Twilight Series

So HECK! inspired me to make a thread dedicated to Twilight. I'm not sure if many of you have read them. I know that Kris has. We can also use this as the Twilight movie thread. So let the comments begin!

YAY! We can talk, all we want, about Bella and Edward, Carlisle, Rose, Jacob, etc...

I LOVED this series. And they say you will either love it, or hate it. No in between. I loved it.

Bella was my favorite. I enjoyed the love story. I enjoyed the character, and her faith in Edward, and all of the Cullens clan.

So someone break this down for me. What's the story about? How many books are there?

There are four books. And I don't know if I can explain the story without giving things away, but I'll just try. The basis of the book is forbidden love. Bella (the human) is madly in love with Edward (the vampire) and he's madly in love with her. But their love is dangerous because oddly enough it takes all of Edward's strength not to kill Bella. (Her scent is the most tempting scent he's encountered as his existance as a vamp.) There are other aspects that make their love dangerous but I don't think I can mention them in a condensed version..... lol.

So I'm not so sure that I have a favorite book. I think my least favorite was the second one because of the lack of a certain character throughout most of the book. (I don't want to say names in case someone wants to read it.) As for characters I love them all. My favorite of the Cullen family (besides Edward of course) has to be Alice. I have to say that I was so happy with the person they cast to play her. I think she'll do the part justice.

Twilight
Isabella "Bella" Swan moves from sunny Phoenix, Arizona to rainy Forks, Washington to live with her father, Charlie. She chooses to do this so that her mother, Renée, can travel with her new husband, Phil Dwyer, who is a minor league baseball player. In Phoenix she was a bit of an outcast, so it surprises her that she attracts much attention at her new school and is quickly befriended by several students. Much to her dismay, several boys in the school compete for shy Bella's attention.

When Bella sits next to Edward Cullen in biology class on her first day of school, Edward seems utterly repulsed by her. He even attempts to change his schedule to avoid her, leaving Bella completely puzzled about his attitude towards her. After tricking a family friend, Jacob Black of the Quileute tribe, into telling her the local tribal legends, Bella concludes that Edward and his family are vampires. Although she was inexplicably attracted to him even when she thought Edward drank human blood, she is much relieved to learn that the Cullens choose to abstain from drinking human blood, and drink animal blood instead. Over time, Edward and Bella fall in love. Their foremost problem is that to Edward, Bella's scent is a hundred times more potent than any other human's, making Edward struggle to resist his desire to kill her. However, despite this they manage to stay together safely for a time.

New Moon
For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning...

Eclipse
As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob—knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

Breaking Dawn
This one I'm not going to put anything... because, if I do, you will know too much, before reading the others.

*Gasp* this is what many are speculating to be Bella's Lullaby. Oh it's so beautiful...... I've listened to it at least 7 times in a row.

I've listened to it a few times. It is sooooo pretty. And I wouldn't mind getting that onto my website. Dang... so peaceful.

Sandy June, also known as Snady, has bought all four books. She is on book two. She forced me to watch the movie trailer, and it had my old truck in it, I guess that's what the chick drives. I'll go see the movie with her, don't know if I will be excited about it, but I'll go.

I will send her this link, maybe she will post for the first time in months.

I remember when I read book one, and Bella got that truck from her father. As it was being described, I thought... "Now there is a Dave truck." And then, when the movie trailer came out, I thought the same thing.

Oh, and Dave... you will like the movie... you will.

I'll probably like the movie, but I tried the book a little, and it was too romance novel for me. She was thinking about the way the vampire walked and how attracted she was to him, and stuff.

I only read one page in the middle.

I may try to read the first chapter. This her driving my truck deal makes me think this author knows her stuff.

See... she knew that Bella having that truck would get ya cowboys' interest. It worked, didn't it?

I am reading The Series right now. I love it! I have read the first two books and am starting the third. I watched the trailer for the movie. It looks just like the book to me.
I am scared to read very much of this thread because of spoilers.
I cried when Edward left.......................
I cried later for Jacob because he loves Bella so much.
I like all the characers. Bella is great. Alice, Edward, all the Cullens, Jacob Black.
I have a feeling I am not going to be liking Jacob for very long though. Maybe.
The story has calmed down a little for me now after the second book. I do wonder what the author is going to do to fill up these two other books.
Does Bella become a Vampire. That does seem like the best solution. Happily ever after, kind of.
What else could happen? Could she go on and Marry someone elso and have a family? It seems the only way that could happen is if Edward died. I think it is going to take me awhile to finish these last two books. I will make more comments later.

O.K. I read all but one post now. I was happy with David for reading a little bit of my book and watching the trailer:cheers: . Much better than his behavior concerning Buffy the Vampire Slayer stuff.
Give anybody is going to say anything about the last two books just give me a spoiler alret please.
I am a sucker for a good romance and these books fill that bill for me. The chemistry is really well done.

Okay... we will have to be careful with talking in here. Or, you will have to be VERY careful with what you read in here. Because it will be spoiled for you. All your questions WILL be answered. But, I refuse to spoil it for you.

Anyways, I wanted to ask some questions that I don't think will give the ending away and to speculate what the ending of the series will be.

One questions. Does Bella ever have sex with anyone? I am thinking the author will try to keep this "tween" friendly and she won't. Right now I am thinking... Edward has venom in his teeth and is scared of breaking her, Jacob (slight possiblity) might morph into a wolf at the thought. They worked out ways in Buffy for her to be with Angel a few times.

Right now I am thinking an exciting and unexpected ending to the book would be Bella being turned into a vampire and having some unexpected powers after she is turned. That would be cool to me.
The ending I am expecting is this; because I think the author is going to want to make everybody happy with her "correct" ending for the books and possibley movies....
Edward will stall Bella long enough for her to mature and realize or she will have an apiphany and realize that he is right and she needs to stay human and be a good girl/woman/mother/citizen...etc... She will still have Edward....he will be happy just knowing she is safe and happy, blah blah blah, boring and predictable to me. Maybe the ending will even be that dream she had where she is an old women who looks just like Gran and Edward appears to her in the sunshine all sparkly and touches her cheek. That sounds so sweet but I think I will hurl if that is the ending.

I can't tell you if she ever has sex with anyone because that would give away faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too much.

Your ending, for the series, is something else!!! Is it true? I don't know. Only in reading the "Breaking Dawn" will you actually know what Stephenie wrote. Sorry... but, I'm the wrong person to ask if you want answers. I don't like having books, or movies, spoiled for me. And I refuse to do the same in return, SJ. What enjoyment would you have if you knew, ahead of time, the status of Bella's "innocence" or who she ends up with, or if she is a human or a vampire? I'm telling you... you DONT want those answers before you read the books. It would ruin the final book.

I found myself reading, non-stop, just to get these answers. I had to finish this series, as fast as possible, because I NEEDED to know. I'm talking... I read a book each day. I didn't do anything for 4 days straight. And, it was worth it, in my opinion.

Hey, if there was 4 books and no sex, these things wouldn't sell dammit.

I know that it really doesn't answer anything. But, I can't ruin the books for you.

It's like when Buffy was watching all the seasons of Lost. She was asking a ton of questions, and I just couldn't answer them. Dave did... and I felt, in my opinion, that had I been the one watching the show, I would have had the enjoyment ruined for me. To each their own.

Yeah.... I'm dying to talk about the fourth book but I'm like Lawless.... I'm keeping my mouth shut. Which is really really really hard to do!!!! lol.
