Apart from Santa, the Tooth Fairy, et al, what did you think life would be like when you "grew up"?
I remember in high school, in health class they would talk about all the changes that your body would go through in puberty and all that, and one of things mentioned was pimples. I therefore believed that pimples were a teenager's problem, that they are associated with puberty only. Yet here I am, nearly 30 and I am still getting pimples. I am pretty sure I have finished puberty, so what gives? Good one health teacher, might want to make that a bit clearer in the classes.
Did your mum or dad ever say to you in high school "these are the best years of your life"? And of course, you scoffed, because at the time being a teenager is a horendous experience, right? Well now I have to agree, we got to sleep in, go home early, had over three months of holidays, did more socialising than actual work, never had to worry about paying bills and rent and you lived in this kind of "my life" bubble. You didn't have to know about world news, and the economy and politics, all you needed to know was what song was number 1 at the moment and if you could afford those really cool new shoes/ shirt everyone was wearing.
I would love to go back to that life now. Teenagers are just too stupid to appreciate it.
Some silly things I believed in: eating apple seeds would grow an apple tree in your stomach. If you swallowed chewing gum, it would stay in your stomach for 50 years. That television ratings came from some kind of government agency that knew what everyone was watching all the time.
