Sheen Apologises For Voicemail Rant

Charlie Sheen has issued an apology after expletive-laden answer machine messages he left for his ex-wife Denise Richards two years ago were made public online.

In the 2005 voicemails, which have been circulating on the internet for the past two days, an angry Sheen rages about what he calls his former wife's "lawyer bulls**t" in the midst of their divorce proceedings.

He rants, "I guess I should just get used to the fact that... you fire off your nonsense and your lawyer bulls**t and your f*****g e-mails and then you don't answer the phone.

"I'm just really f*****g mad and you owe me a phone call... If I did the same s**t to you, you'd be f*****g furious."

And in a follow-up voicemail, from 19 April of the same year, Sheen goes ballistic, shouting, "I hope you rot in f**king hell. You're a piece of s**t, f*****g liar... I hope I never f*****g talk to you again you f*****g c**t.

"You're a coward and a liar and a f*****g n****r."

In a statement released on Wednesday, Sheen apologises for "my choice of words," particularly his racist slur, naming his friend Tony Todd, an African-American, "who was my best man at my first two weddings".

Defiant Sheen also uses his apology to further attack his ex, adding, "For the record, my children did not show up today for a custodial visit without explanation.

"So three and one half years later, the reasons that caused the anger and frustration displayed on that voicemail continue to be manifested on a daily basis."

The former couple divorced in 2006 and has since been embroiled in a bitter dispute over custody of their two daughters, three-year-old Sam and Lola, two.

I don't get it, he called her an n-word, right? Why? I mean... is it an insult that just means 'dickhead' now or something? I always thought it was evolved from negro, which itself has latin origins (I assume). But, uh, okay, so how does that turn into an insult you can point at a woman? Okay, so John Lennon had that song that women are the nigger of the world, but I don't get it.

Can understand why he's mad. I've gone on rants like that before, but I can't remember ever calling anyone an n-word.

some people say "n***er" means "an ignorant person" and that's where it came from. I always tell these people they're wrong, it came from "negro" which they get kind of mad at. They ask "so I guess everything I was told growing up was wrong then?" to which I say "the people you grew up around used that word a lot didn't they?" This pisses them off even more, cuz they know I'm right.


using the n-word as a general insult makes even more insulting then using as a word for a black person. "N***er" has historically been used specifically at black people, so to call a white person that as an insult is basically saying that being black is bad.

I'd personally be less offended if it was just someone who was too stupid to realize they can't use that word for black people any more, for example "My daughter's dating a n***er boy. He's a good kid. I hope she marries him."


Most likely scenerio though, is that Sheen was just super-pissed and decided to rattle off every vulgar word he knew. It's like calling a straight person a "faggot" as an insult. You're not really saying that they're gay, you're just hurling bad words at them. But you're a lot less likely to get your ass whooped for that than the n-bomb, so people use it more, I reckon.
