TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A sheriff's deputy who was videotaped dumping a paralyzed man from a wheelchair onto a jailhouse floor has been charged with abuse of a disabled person, a sheriff's official said Friday.
Surveillance footage from Jan. 29 shows Hillsborough County deputy Charlette Marshall-Jones, 44, dumping Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair and searching him on the floor after he was brought in on a warrant after a traffic violation.
Sterner, 32, said when he was taken into a booking room and told to stand up, Jones grew agitated when he told her that he could not.
Marshall-Jones was suspended without pay, and three other deputies were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
Marshall-Jones is charged with abuse of a disabled person, a third-degree felony, said Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee.
If convicted, she could be sent to prison for five years.
Gee said Marshall-Jones was aware of the warrant for her arrest, but that he didn't know when she might turn herself in.
Marshall-Jones could not be reached by phone for comment Friday night. A telephone number listed in her name has been disconnected.
Sterner, who can drive a car but has not been able to walk since a 1994 wrestling accident, was arrested at his Riverview home and taken to the Orient Road Jail on a charge of fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, according to records. He had called for charges to be filed against Marshall-Jones.

This one has the dude talking, they broke his ribs.

Thats the vid I saw on CNN the other day. Several things disturb me.

1 The guy being dumped obviously
2 The fact that there was no incident report
3 CNN's accusing the male sheriff of laughing at the guy.

The 1st vid you linked shows the male sheriff entering the picture 60 seconds after the guy is on the floor to assist with getting him back in the chair. He then walks off to the cameras left and has a 30 second conversation away from the guy in the wheelchair ( CNN edits that part out ). He then walks toward the camera apparently conversing and smiling towards his last location ( away from the guy in the wheelchair ).

CNN makes it look like the male sheriff walked away laughing at the guy in the wheelchair, 5 seconds after picking him up off the floor. In reality, he probably didnt see the dumping incident, walked away after helping out, and may have been joking about something completely unrelated to the incident when he walked by the camera

Wheelchair dude will sue I bet, and get a boatload of money. A jury won't like what that stupid cop did or the departments cover up of it.

How fucking stupid is this woman though? She asks him to stand up? I mean, was she for real?

If there was a n IQ test prior to hiring, 10% of the jobs worldwide wouldnt get filled. Example- I order a burger with no pickles, there is a friggin picture of a pickle right on the register, half of the time they still screw it up.

Maybe we should give her the benefit of the doubt and just assume she doesnt give a rats ass

Example of person who shouldn't be a cop, who uses their position to lord it over others. My ex has been trying to become a cop for 20 yrs, and he is the WORST example of a person who ever could be one. Every time I see where a cops getting in trouble for doing something terrible, I think of him. He'd kick the crutches out from under a "perp" because he thinks if they're being accused of a crime, they're lesser than human and don't deserve common decency. Of course, my ex had a lot of cop friends who acted that way too. You get the bad apples in there, and sooner or later they're gonna do something to make themselves float to the top. I saw that video on the news and didn't realize it was a woman who did that to the guy though. If she actually goes to jail she deserves to have someone just like her be her arresting officer.

I'd like to see what her defense is when she goes to trial.

That woman needs to be tazered. There is no excuse for what she did. That poor man.

It takes a special personality to be a cop and not develop an attitude. Every day you deal with the scum of the earth, its gotta get to you at some point. After hearing the same toothless ,crack smoking petty criminal proclaim ' I didnt do nuthin' upon being arrested by me for the 8th time, I would likely just punch him in the face and tell him to shut up. One reason why I never wanted to be a cop
