HAPPY NEW YEAR

Okay... so there isn't a "Happy New Year" thread, and people are talking about it in the "Merry Christmas" thread. I'm guessing that the easy solution is to put up this thread. So, here ya go!!!

What are your plans for NYE this year? Will you be going out to a party, or staying home and having a quiet evening? Tell us your plans.

And, no matter what... please have a VERY safe NYE. If you drink, please don't drive. This is the one night, of every year, where we have an extremely high number of drunk drivers on the road. So, be safe and plan ahead. Assign a designated driver (DD), so that you don't end up a statistic.

Well Callum is being looked after by his grandparents so me and the wife are off to the biggest street party in the world (or so I am told) should be a good laugh but Hogmanay is a bigger deal in Scotland than Christmas.
Somehow I got roped into once again doing the looney Dook on the 1st, basically the looney dook is going for a swim in the North Sea at 8.00am.

We're just going to a friends place I think, or they're coming here, I am not sure, but we're just going to drink ourselves stupid basically.

Then next week my New Year's resolution is to quit smoking. I am not looking forward to it.

I can imagine you'd be chain-smoking tonight, schmiggens.

We're going to watch the fireworks around the Taipei 101 building. Apparently they'll be quite spectacular this year. I can't imagine anything better than last year's, where they blew the building up (sort of). Very pretty.

I think before that we're seeing a movie and having dinner. We'll see, though.

Yeah, I decided to quit before Christmas, but knew with all the Christmas and New Year parties coming up I'd be drinking and I like a smoke when I drink, so I delayed quitting until after New Year. I'll probably keep smoking until Friday as I'm back at work after New Years and I think I'll need a few smokes to get through that, then start on the weekend. We'll see how it goes.

Anyone else going to have New Years resolutions?

I'm not so much with the resolutions. I guess if it was anything, I'd say my resolution is to not allow people around me to get to me so much... but I absolutely think my reaction to the BS around me is involuntary.

I've never been one for resolutions either, it's realy just a convenient tag for it, because I happen to be quitting in the new year.

New Year's Resolutions are stupid.

I mean, I'm all for self-improvement, and a New Year seems like a good landmark to turn over a new leaf,

but I think 90% of people's New Year's Resolution is to quit smoking or drinking, but lo and behold, when the ball drops at midnight, most people start the New Year off drunk like a skunk with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth.

I actually quit smoking a month ago. Just said... "I'm done" and haven't picked up another clove. And it feels so good to know that I did something healthy, for myself.

I don't do resolutions... but, I am going to try and read my bible, each day.

As for tomorrow night... Jill and I are going to a friends house, for a NYE party. I'm going to be the designated driver. Hopefully, it will be a fun evening, and no one will be too sloshed and then get behind the wheel.

I didn't know you smoked. Not sure why, I guess I never thought of it.

Well, I had stopped, for a long time. But, yes... I was a cloves smoker. Not cigs. I've smoked since I was a young teenager.

I'm totally looking forward to tomorrow night. But, more importantly, I'm looking forward to 2008. Too much happened to me in 2007, and I won't ever be able to forget it. It was the best, and the worst, year for me.

2007 was boring. Nothing happened.

I wish that 2007 had been boring. It would have been a lot better than the living hell that I went through.

I wish SOMETHING would have happened, though. Not back surgery, of course. That would suck. Perhaps toe surgery? That would've worked well for me, and I'd have something to talk about.

Oh, I guess I can say this board was started in 2007. That's pretty cool.

When's the 1 year anniversary of starting it up? We need to have a celebration.

Oh, yeah, and next thing you know, people are gonna start telling me that Sherry's a smoker. If she is, don't tell me. I don't think I could handle it.

January 23rd. I'll be just getting back from the states. If I forget, someone remind me.

People can start working on a 1 year anniversary/birthday themed banner if they want. If not, I'll just put a picture of some balloons drawn by a 6 year old there.

A bunch of us are going downtown to bring in the new year at some bar with an 80s band where we get to stand all night long. I don't feel like going. I've been hella sick since xmas eve and I don't feel like getting out of bed, let alone going out and party.

12 hours and 45 minutes to go Cali time. We will likely go out for a late dinner with the kids ( even though we are still sick ), light off some fireworks ( kids have never seen Daddy do anything illegal, it might rock their world ), and be in bed by 10.

I'm sick... and like Illuminate, I don't want to get out of bed and go out tonight. But, Jill insists that I will not be alone tonight, and that I'm going, no matter what. So, this sick butt of mine will be dragged out of bed, and going to our friends for a party.

I didn't realise I was so far in the future to some of you guys. It's 3.00 pm on the 1st here and some of you are only just having the clock tick over. Time zones are wierd.
