| I hope at the end of this John McClane digs up and defiles the skeleton of Hans Gruber. Come to think of it, I bet McClane goes out like a G at the end of this, sacrifices himself to save the day. Would be fitting. -HECK! | |

| Yeah, it's possible with this movie title that McClane will sacrifice himself. I just hope not. That's the whole purpose of calling the freakin movie DIE HARD. | |

| Sweet fucking motherfucker. I just read some horrible bullshit news. The studio is going to probably cut this movie and release it as PG-13 instead of R. I can't fucking stand it. First Fantastic Four 2 is gonna be shit now they pussify Die Hard 4. -HECK! | |

| I don't know. My understanding is that you can't say the F word unless it's R or above, and the trailer shows him saying that, so I don't see how it can be pg-13. | |

| Yeah, but it's implied. Seems like a rip off if he don't say the full quote. Not that I'm a huge fan of the F word, but in Die Hard, like Casino, it's expected. | |

| Incorrect, Dave. If you say "F***" three times, it's an automatic R rating to a movie... not just one time. | |

Not that I'm a huge fan of the F word, but in Die Hard, like Casino, it's expected. You have to use the F word in Die Hard. Not only the cussing, it's the violence factor. There is a whole lot of difference between PG-13 and R. -HECK! | |

| Just realized, this movie is still called Die Hard 4.0 out here. I saw a poster with this as the title today, and then thought it may be old. But when I looked it up, realized, 'nope, that's just the name of it out here.' | |

| HECK's Life Free Or Die Hard review... Possible spoilers... Was not going to wait to see the latest and presumably last installment of the adventures of John McClane. This time around McClane is an estranged father, divorced husband and a NYPD detective living the easy life. A bunch of hackers end up dead, the FBI gets hacked, so they want all the high profile hackers on file brought in. This one hacker kid (actor from those Mac vs. Windows commercials) is to be brought in by the man who bitch slapped Hans Gruber nearly two decades ago, John McClane. But as Mr. Die Hard himself show up, so do the well-armed hacker terrorists to snuff this kid who, like the other dead hackers, had inadvertantly been apart of the bad guys' master plan and now have to be snuffed out. From there McClane and the kid bounce around trying to unravel the plan of these cyber terrorists who are wreaking havoc with the country. That's the basic plot. Insert many actions scenes, funny McClaine-ism's, and indestructable bad guys along the way. Let's breakdown the game film: Plot The plot was easy enough to follow. It wasn't overly dynamic, nothing that fresh, no breaking new ground. Cyber terrorists try to take over the government. Live Free doesn't have that 'slick' plot like the original but it wasn't clunky like the third. Not completely cookie cutter but it didn't re-invent the wheel. Smooth, follow the bread crumb, a-typical. Characters McClane is, well, McClane but older. He's seasoned, he's been there. By no stretch is he going through the motions but he gets on his action horse and rides that bitch for all its worth. Wasn't Bruce Willis trying to recreate McClane, he wrapped himself in the role once again. Kid sidekick was cool. Comedy relief guy. Good comedy moments. A fair amount of "oh my, look what you did! look at that explosion!" He was solid, didn't hurt the movie. Lucy McClane was John McClane's daughter. Hints of her mother too. Smaller role but she owned it. Tough chick. Main terrorist guy was a bit generic. His backstory was sprinkled in late in the second act, beginning of third. They tried to tell you toward the end he was a fallen hero but it seemed forced. His acting was marginal. Weakest enemy McClane has faced by far. He terrorist henchmen were generic too, except for one acrobatic guy that is dispatched rather easily. The core of them were not that threatening. Seemed like shooting dummies. FBI guys were pointless. Action The action was really cool. They did a lot with a PG-13 rating. Lots of car crashes, explosions, big rig vs. a jet fighter, McClane breaking a freeway... you get the picture. Special effects were well done, a few very small cheese parts. In the theater a few people said, "no way he/she would have lived!" I can suspend disbelief so it didn't bug me, but yeah, some bad guys were hit by a car or jumped out of a helicopter and didn't have a scratch. Meh. What I liked- dialogue, action, everything McClane did, the Yippie Ki Yay, inside jokes. What I didn't like as much- editing was poor, the PG-13 rating was forced and made the movie choppy at points, terrorists were not that threatening, indestructable bad guys. When you get down to it, this is a Die Hard movie. It's not the one you remember but it works on a lot of levels. The whole movie could have been put together better but I still enjoyed it. Good ride and well worth it. I give it a A- -HECK! | |

| it was so over the top i couldn't help but like it. course half the fun was nitpicking it (i dunno, me and my friends enjoy doing that sometimes), but it's not a bad movie on the whole, though like Heck said, its hardly inventive. | |

| Woo hoo hoo, I finally saw it. I had pretty low expectations, I admit, but WOW! What a movie. It was amazing. Kills Die Hard 2 and Die Hard with a Vengence, I reckon. Can't compete with the first, but to blow the two very solid sequels out of the water is an achievement in itself. You just wanted to scream out to John McClaine the whole time to keep killing those motherfuckers! | |
