| Angelina Jolie says she was almost kidnapped recently during a goodwill tour. "It was in a small village. I won’t say where, or with whom, but some gangsters planned to kidnap me and extort a massive ransom. I was warned at the last minute, and managed to escape, luckily." Angelina Jolie is not only planning to adopt a Vietnamese boy, she is also making plans to adopt several animals. A source says, "Angelina has an idea to start a number of animal shelters. The first one will be in Cambodia and she will employ local people to help run it. Angelina has always loved animals and this is something she wants to do for herself but also for her kids." American Idol heartthrob Sanjaya Malakar says he dyed and straightened his hair last week. He adds that he is considering shaving it if producers will let him. "I'd be totally willing to cut my hair. I think it would be really fun to just shave it off but I don't know if they'll let me." Thought Starter: Ask your audience, "Have you ever chopped off your hair? If so, how did your friends and family react?" The Beau Monde International rehab center, which is known for its spa and salon treatments, gourmet meals, poolside massages, and "luxurious fluffy robes and slippers", is suing Courtney Love for $181,000. They say she owes them for a three-week stay there in 2005. Teri Hatcher says she is not leaving Desperate Housewives despite having written a new sitcom. "I have written a new show and it's a comedy. I initially only planned to work behind the scenes, but now my bosses are telling me the show will only work if I star in it, too." Eva Longoria wants Kenny Chesney to sing at her wedding. She says they're good friends and not having an affair. "My friend Kenny Chesney is going to sing at my wedding. He just doesn't know it yet. I get so much crap for having friends like Jamie Foxx and Mario Lopez, who are like brothers to me. It's difficult when you're in an insecure relationship or if your partner doesn't know where he stands with you. That's not how it is with [Tony and me]." Paul McCartney has reportedly convinced Heather Mills to accept a $56 million settlement to end their bitter divorce battle and her bid for sole custody of their daughter, Beatrice. The settlement includes Paul's $8 million mansion and an agreement to share custody of Beatrice. Nicole Richie's ex, DJ AM, is once again single and looking for a famous girlfriend. After being spotted canoodling all over Hollywood, singer/ actress Mandy Moore has reportedly kicked him to the curb. Guess Mandy heard the report that DJ AM told friends he needed to date another celebrity after his break-up with Nicole because his ratings were plummeting. | |

| You mean Angelina Jolie and that? You know, I kind of agree with that... Sure, they're suffering, pain and poverty in Africa and South East Asia... but you'll find poor, starving children in the US too. I think the process of adopting a kid in America is a hell of a lot harder, though. | |

| Right... there are a lot of people here who are homeless, and poor. But, these areas that the celebs are going into... they have nothing. We're not talking a few people here and there. Were talking most of the country. Actually, I think that it's great what they are doing. I love the school that Oprah started in Africa... and that she's talking about doing another one elsewhere. But, there are celebs that are doing work, and using their money, here in America. It just doesn't get publicized like those going to other countries, because that's what the media wants to show. | |

| It's their money. So long as it's not spent on drugs who gives a shit? She's doing a good thing. Sure, I get the "help America first" angle but compared to Cambodia or other third worold countries we're pretty damn great. I know there's a lot we need to fix here and if it were me in her place I would spread the wealth here but we can't expect or admonish celebrities for donating their dough elsewhere. -HECK! | |

| i'm not saying any thing bad about what shes doing, atleast it's somethingbut it's like building a sand castle on the edge of the beach. You have an impoverished country, noone has anything, it's sad. but unless the whole counrty is helped what is helping one person or 20 people in the country gonna do? it's like puttin new shoe string in a pair of sneakers that are falling apart. sure its nice someone bought you shoe string but what good is it doing really. setting up school is great, helping to get running water great, food and clothing, great. but adopting a child here and there, if your trying to help somwhere that has nothing, what good is that doing really? | |

| Yes... but, Buffy, Angelina is doing more than just adopting one child. She's saving a child's life. One person saved is better than none. Also, she's helping to pay for better facilities in these countries, for the orphanages. And, I think that she's in talks about a school of some sort.
Just like Oprah. She set up that Academy. I watched that special about it, and I cried the entire time. Not only is she taking in 400 girls at a time... when they graduate from there, she will pay to send each and every one of them to ANY University, anywhere in the WORLD, of their choosing. She, and others, are using their money, and status, to make a HUGE difference. I think that it's amazing.
I seriously think that Oprah is one of the greatest ladies in the world. My opinion. Might not be how anyone else feels... but, it's awesome.
Rosie O'Donnell puts up a ton of her money for children, and does a lot to help families.
I would love to find a list someone... I'm sure there is something, somewhere online, that would tell us about celebs, and rich people, who use their money to benefit in such ways as those above.
What about Bill Gates and his wife. They give millions to education, all over the US. That's awesome.
I know, as I've said before, that there are a lot of people in the US that need help. I think that we need to have our GOVERNMENT stop spending BILLIONS on wars, space, etc... and put that money to use on people here, in America. Toward educating people who can't afford it. To helping people find jobs, and make decent livings. To helping out with child care, for parents who can't afford it. There are TONS of things that our gov't could spend money on instead of other countries, or space, or so many other things.
BUT, I don't expect individual people to do that. No, our taxes should go toward that. Wish that we had more say in that. As a country, we should have more say in things like that. Why can't our tax money go toward improving the US, instead of other countries?
Okay... I'm off of my soap box. Sorry.

I see your point, it comes off as a band-aid type of fix, but it's still something. If that chunk of change helps a few kids in a shitty country live a full and productive life well that's pretty big. Of course if one of those kids grows up to be the next Hitler then that would suck. -HECK!
