The Hunger Games series

I just read this series recently and loved it. I was putting off reading it because my boss was all like, "Kat, I think I'll call you Katniss from now on because of this great book which YOU MUST READ NOW and I'll ask you every day if you've started it!!!" But I finally picked it up and ended up reading the first book in about 12 hours. Just pulled a near-all-nighter without realizing how fast time was going. I didn't want to put the book down because I had to know what happened next. Same story with the second book, Catching Fire. The third one was very good, too, but didn't hold me as much so I took longer to read it.

Still, I loved the series. I'm apprehensive about the movie. I hope it doesn't suck.

Anyone read these books? They've got it all: dystopia, romance, a love triangle, a strong female lead, murder and treasonous antics.

I read the first few chapters of the first book. Got to say, I don't enjoy the writing style but the story as a whole seemed interesting. I'd have to grab a physical book to finish them (I read the first part online), but I'm considering it.

There's a tv show the just started a few weeks ago that is based on The Hunger Games. There's 24 people (12 teams of 2) that are running around in an enclosed wilderness area. Each episode one of the teams is randomly chosen to be the hunt team, and all the rest are the prey. To stretch out the show, two teams are caught each episode but only one is sent home. The remaining teams vote on who leaves. There's minimal food and shelter available. Not much of a plot, but I keep getting drawn in to watch it. Most of each episode is people chasing down other people.

Oh yeah, the show is called Capture. Forgot to mention its name  

I think I saw that. They advertised it as part Survivor, part Hunger Games, right?

I didn't see any of the advertisements, I just was with friends when they watched the first episode. It's so not Survivor, though. There's way more going on in Survivor than voting people out and living with uncomfortable sleeping/food conditions. Survivor is my #1 show now that Buffy and Lost are done.

Don't watch it. But just for future reference, please don't mention it in the same sentence as Buffy. Okay? Okay.

Well, half kidding. Are you going to watch that S.H.E.I.L.D. show when it comes on? I think it's going to be great.

I hadn't seen any commercials for it. I'll have to check it out.

Survivor is a good show, but Buffy stands the test of time. Ten years from now I won't own all the seasons of Survivor and be rewatching the episodes for the zillionth time.

Any one catch the first Hunger Games movie or plan on watching the next one, by the way?
