| Another end of the world kind of deal. Special effects look out of this world, but these movies tend to suck something dreadful. Am I the only person who thinks so?
Still, I'll give it a go.

| I'll prolly give it a go too. I dont mind end of the world movies. The premise behind this seems too vague for my liking, some ridiculous interpretation of the Mayan calender and then the world just starts imploding for no reason? ummm .... ok? | |

| Is that what it is? Imploding for no reason? I didn't quite get the cause. The clips don't make it obvious.
Which makes me thing, I mean... where would they go? Where could they run to?

| I don't actually know if it's imploding or not, the clips are, as you say, too vague to make any guess at to the "why" of it, which just makes me think it must be a lame reason, or they would've but it in the trailer. | |

| Radiation from the sun was heating the core of the earth. Done. It was an okay movie, great effects... dumb ass story - but what you expect, eh? Oh, and spoiler, but... - Spoiler:
I don't get how Amanda Peet's husband can die, and 2 minutes later she's shoving her tongue down John Cusack's throat. Unbelievable.

| Since the great Turd The Day After Tomorrow, which is perhaps the worst movie in the history of mankind, I decided to not see anymore movies from these loony toons. I thought they did o.k. (just o.k) with Independence Day, but even that movie had some major bad writing. | |

| I would have to say, though, infinitely better than The Day After Tomorrow. Then again, that could still equal a sucky movie. | |

| Does Cusak get drunk on wine, let his grandson see him naked, then curse him and his kind for all generations? | |

| I'm still not watching the movie!!! Maybe in 4 years, when it comes on T.V. for free, and only then if I'd had some whiskey. | |

| Even then. Have a backup movie. This movie was gayer than 4 dudes banging 5 dudes. It was like pieces of film school quality melodramatic shit smashed by insane tidal waves, volcanos, earthquakes, and falling buildings. The White House was destroyed by an aircraft carrier in this movie. And it wasn't even funny. Danny Glover was president. His quote reminded me of Red Foxx biting the dust in the Family Guy Star Wars episode. Weak. It was laughably pointless. -HECK! | |

| While seeing the previews, I was watching Cusak watch thousands die around him, and I was like, if everyone is dying around you, why would you even want to live? Plus, to me, it looked like a cartoon. Everyone on the Regis and Kelly show, where I saw the clip was gasping, like it looked real, but it looked pretty damn fake to me. | |

| I was impressed by the effects, myself. I can't fault them for that. You may just be more observant than me.
Yeah, heaps of people dying. I guess you'd still wanna live. Self preservation and all that. But if it was me, I'd be all like "well, I'm not gonna survive this... better just sit around and wait for the inevitable."

| Nothing a little whiskey won't cure. I'll do a few shots, then the CGI won't look so bad. | |

| I reckon at this point you're expecting such a suck fest, you'd actually enjoy it. Like me with Jennifer's Body. Who said it sucks? I loved it. The movie wasn't bad either. | |

| Saw this today, the special effects are pretty damn impressive, but it is still obvious that they're fake, I have definitely seen better special effects, but I guess there are SOOOOO many special effects in this movie, making them all 100% fantastic was just a major budget blow-out, so they settled for making them all passable.
Storyline was reasonable, the idea behind the why of it wasn't too far-fetched, but linking it in the with Mayan calendar thing was just a gimmick to make the internet nerds and conspiracy theorists want to watch the movie. The family storyline was a bit stretched, I agree with G about the wife, what was that all about?
I thought Danny Glover was a good President. The kids acting was good, and with kids you can be hit and moss, so that was a bonus. Matthew McConaughy did the crazy dude a little too well.
Probably wouldn't watch it again in the short-term, but when it comes on TV I will probably give it a go.
