I watched Milan vs Roma today. I hadnt watched an entire Seire A in several years and forgot how different the pace is. The slower , more technical game plays to his strengths. 3 awesome targets like Kaka, Patu, and Ronaldino, as well as the link play of Pirlo really show off what he does well. I was shocked to see him in the starting line-up. I was shocked at how effective he was. Seeing how well he fits in with Milans system, I would be equally shocked to see him come back to LA

Strangelky enough the AC Milan manager has publicly said he wants to keep Beckham beyond the current loan deal but I can't see it happening MLS and LA Galaxy have invested to much time and more importantly cash to lose Beckham.

I think AC can come up with enough cash to compensate the MLS. The slower paced , more technical Italian game suits Becks to a tee and he fits in perfectly. They could pay MLS double what he is gauranteed and still be paying much less than they are for Seedorf of Pirlo

Of course I don't know what kind of valuation the MLS have on Beckham but I dont reckon he will be going cheap, that could lead to a problem bvecause as good as Beckham is I just dont know how much AC would be willing to spalsh out for a player who at best has 2 - 3 good seasons in him I am just looking at it in the financial point of view certainly Beckham fills a void on that right hand side that AC have struggled to fill for a while now. It may also be a move that Beckham would welcome to get him self back in the England team. Of course the big thing is that Beckham might not have a succesful time in Italy he has had 1 good game but he will have to keep that standard for the rest of his time there.

I just hope that wherever Beckham ends up that the MLS dont get bullied by the big teams from the big leagues.

Does this mean the he's leaving the Galaxy? They dumped a butt load of cash. I think this was the one great MLS move to make the sport mainstream over here.

Well nothing has been decided or even talked about I think. At the monet he is on loan to Milan because he needs to be playing regular football if he wants to keep playing for England and because the MLS season is over he has moved to Italy where thier season keeps going until May.

I think the initial theory was that a loan deal was best for everybody. Beckham would be considered for upcoming England games, Milan would have a good player that would fill in a problem area for them and Galaxy would get a match sharp Beckham when the MLS starts again which I think is in March Mr F will know better than me though.

March sounds right. From what i remember of his contract with MLS he has 4 years left with a guarantee of $5mil per year. He also gets a percentage of shirt sales, and gate revenues for matches he plays in as well. If Milan offers a one year deal in the $6-$7mil range they would get a needed asset for the team which they can afford, Becks puts himself back in the running for an England spot, and MLS makes money now and gets him back in a year or 2. Everybody wins

Damn that's a lot of cash. This guy is a soccer globe trotter. So much money in this business.

Soccer has an advantage in this area. Baseball or football guys can't go overseas in the off-season.

I wonder if there is maybe an option of a co ownership contract between the Galaxy and Milan in regards to Beckham I know these contracts are fairly common in Italy but have not heard of them anywhere else.

Heck you are right about the money in football right now, take Beckhams AC Milan team mate Kaka he may be going to Manchester City for wait for it £100 million and if he does sign for Man City he will be paid £2million a month plus bonuses.

Seems that Kaka has turned down Manchester City to stay in Italy, he says that it's not all about the cash which I bet Man City and a few other premiership teams hope is theory that ain't catching.

The Man sity reps seem to be shocked Kaka is staying but I really dont know did they hnestly belive the boy was going to turn his back on the cahmpions league, a possible league win and a pretty secure management team for a relegation battle and a manager who seems on the brink every week, furthermore AC = team of players who care about the cause, Man City = team of individuals who care more about the ££££££ than the history of the club.

It also seems Robinhio has walked out on Man City, stormed away from a training camp in Teneriefe and hasn't been seen since.

Anyway going back to the original therad title there was an interview with Beckham on Sunday and he said 2 intersting things 1 Kaka would not be going to City and 2. that as far as he was concerned he was going back to the Galaxy when his loan was up. Now that could be diplomacy or maybe it's the fact that his family and he are setlled in the US and thats where he wants to finish playing football.

Apparently Milan will make a bid for Becham sooner rather than later the figure quoted was £5million which I think is roughley around $7million which I think is a pretty good price folr the boy.

I think it was a foregone conclusion that he would stay after the first game. T he only question was price. The other day I heard MLS was offered $6M US . Last night I told Sherry MLS would probably ask for 8 and settle for $7 M . Becks salary is $5 M US, so $2 M a year profit looks like a good deal

I do think it's a good deal for all concerned especially if some that $7 million is ploughed into youth development I just hope that those that came to watch the MLS because of Beckham still come to the games because it's a good standard and he is not the only great player in the states.

I did hear the the move may be put back slightly because of a injury Beckham picked up in the last game it was either a stomach or shoulder injury I didnt get the whole story as I had the tv on in the background and the wife was giving me a bollocking at the time lol

If you check Milans updated UEFA cup list about halfway down the list it says D. Beckham so if he's on that list I think he is staying long term well Milan had about about 7 hours to finalise the deal so we will know soon enough.
