The Simpsons Season 20 General Discussion

Friggin' hell, 20 years is a long time.

The first episode, Sex, Pies and Idiot Scrapes, aired this past Sunday. In it, Flanders and Homer become bounty hunters. Also, Marge unknowingly takes a job in an erotic bakery. It was a pretty nice way to kick off the season.

Season 20, faaarrrkkk.
Not many shows can claim that. It's amazing that it's still funny and relevant. Even most good shows loose it after a few years. I guess that the fact that they're animated and never age helps things along.

It helps. I think the simpsons have ups and downs as far as quality goes, but I've always enjoyed it no matter what. Recent episodes are funnier than they were a few years ago, for sure.

Second episode of this season, Lost Verizon, got off to a kind of slow start but quickly picked up and had me in stitches by the end.

There's something about the idea of kids having mobile phones that bothers me.

The most recent episode had a starting like a Christmas episode, but the rest of the episode had nothing to do with Christmas.

I even forget what the hell it was about.

New episode was pretty good. Kind of dig the new opening, and the show went on to be pretty amusing. Homer finds out he would have been senior class president if the true results of the election were revealed, and he ponders what his life would have been like if he had.

I cracked up when he said "I want to live in the sauce" and dives in. Comedy.

Same here. At first I was half watching it, only saw him dive into the sauce for a second. Hilarious.

Wonder if they are using the new opening for good. Kind of hope not.

I'm pretty sure it's there to stay. High definition and all that. I like that they've updated all the characters to the modern look. A lot of scenes in the original opening were still using character appearances from around season 3.

Having watched the new opening again, I think I like it.
I agree with the gabo, the characters are much better and the changes aren't bad.
Something about Maggie and that mono-brow baby bit bugs me though, can't put my finger on it, but something in my head goes "that's not right" when I see that bit.

I guess it just opens up the scene more than you were expecting... also, Maggie and the Monobrow baby have like 2 episodes where they're enemies.

Yeah I know who mono-brow baby is (does he have a name?), but it just doesn't look right. Something about the way she shakes her fist, or her face when she does it. I don't know, just looks funny to me?

It's unibrow. Mono means many. Uni is one. The baby has one eyebrow.

Still not sold on the new opening. They waited 20 years?

It can be called either a unibrow or a monobrow. I believe both terms are acceptable.

Mono is singular, nevermind.

But I prefer unibrow. ONLY SAY THAT! Heh.

Alright, the latest episodes are kind of funny. The most recent ones have been centered around Bart and Lisa and their popularity, and a big plot line in two of the more recent episodes involved people finding hidden doors or windows they never knew were there (Moe found a window in the bar, Marge found a door in the attic). I just found it heaps strange and kind of lazy of the writers.

Oh! Update on this. I did end up buying The Simpsons Season 20 on Blu Ray. HECK and his girl were with me at the time (they helped me cop a good deal. I think they beat up the clerk to get it done).

Anyway, it's a barebones release. Two discs. The first disc has the first half of the season, which was in standard definition. The second disc has the second half of the season which was in full high def. I think there may have been English subtitles, but nothing else. There's also a quick preview of that big special they recently had on (20th anniversary something-er-other).

Hells yeah, we staked that shit out. Went to one place, called another, and checked this other place on a hunch which had a huge sale. Score. I bought this bad-ass Super Bowl DVD set. The lady bought some box sets. We were DVD-tastic.

Not like G at that CD place. Hah. Man, did you post about that shit? That was great. Looked like you robbed the place. Money.
