| Don't feel too sorry for me, cause it's really cool, kinda fun. But dammit, I lost a lot of trees. I got a bunch of pines that are laying over, and some willows that are toast, and the oaks lost a lot of limbs. I have limbs under every tree, I got one limb on the power line, the power line is holding it up. I have major fence damage in several places. I have never seen anything like this in Oklahoma. They say the last time near this bad was 1987, before I moved up here. The power was out when I got home, but it came back on, which is good, as it was getting cold in the house, plus I was bored. I lit a bunch of candles, then Sandy got home and the power came on. Buy hey, while I do mourn all my poor trees, and my shed and fence damage, and mourn all the hours and hours of work it's going to take to clear the yard of massive trees limbs, IT'S COOL AS HELL TO SEE ICE ON EVERYTHING. It's like some doomsday movie, makes for exciting times. I have heard stories from old timers, about past storms, and the popping cracking sounds the trees make when they go, but living through it was very cool. I got home, and the yard was a war zone, and I was walking around, and big giant booming cracks would ring out as big old limbs would go. It was really neato. I am really sad about my trees, I love my trees, but at least none fell on my head, and none fell on the dogs yet. | |

| This is my power line, and the limb on top of it is broken, so the power line is holding it up. I don't expect to have power much longer, ha ha. I figure it will snap tonight or during the day tommorow, as it's going to thunderstorm. When the winds and rain hit that ice and limb and power line, I think it's going to give out. | |

| David, that looks like my Mom's property in NFM after Hurricane Charley went through, couldn't get within 100 ft of the house for all the branches down. Lot of work cleaning that up, but at least it's not 100 degrees and mosquito infected to work in. I think it's absolutely beautiful!!! I'll bring the kids and come out and help clean it up. You watch the kids, I'll clear branches, and I'll get the better deal! | |

| It really is pretty, and surreal. Not something you see everyday. We normally get an ice storm, but nothing like this one. I'm enjoying it while I can, I will bitch and moan about it later while I'm cleaning up for two months. | |

| Dude, mother nature really bitch slapped you this time. Sucks about your trees and the shed there... and the messed up thing is you're not gonna want to fix them up until spring comes along 'cause it's so friggin' cold. | |

| Yeah, the part that hurts the most is the smaller trees that I have spent a couple of years with, watching them grow, then they get hammered. I think all my pines are toast, all of them are leaning over and touching the ground. I don't know if they will pop back up or not. Me thinks not. But I got it good, over 50% of the people at work are without power. I was without it for a few hours and it sucks, I'm just glad to have the heater on so my fish tank doesn't freeze. | |

| Oooh. I kind of want to see how it'd look if your fish tank did freeze. Never seen a frozen fish tank. If it sounds like I have no sympathy for fish, I don't. I used to, but we feed little gold fish to Yoyo's frog so I've been decensortized to the death of fish. That's a pretty wild storm you're having... Unseasonably warm here today. Very nice. | |

| 32C degrees (i think that's about 90F degrees?????) here today, humid, slight wierd shower of rain in the afternoon though. I am so glad we don't get snow or ice storms. We barely even get hail in winter. I have no idea about those kinds of winters you get there. I would love to have one winter like that, but I couldn't deal with it every year I don't think. I want to make a snowman, I made them in England when I was little, and I have a photo somewhere, but I don't remember anything about snow. Maybe someone can send me some snow? | |

| Wow, saw on the news today how wide spread this storm was, and they've declared a state of emergency in Oklahoma. David you still have power??? Everything ok? | |

| Yep, lost a lot of trees and a shed and some fence, but it aint no big deal at all, we only lost power for 3 hours or so. Lots of people around here are looking at a week or more till it's back on. Things are cool here at our place though. | |

| That's good to hear. 3 hours isn't much at all, considering the size and intensity of the storm. We've lost power for longer than that during a light afternoon drizzle. | |

| yeah, we got real lucky, it was and is the biggest power outage in the history of the state, there are still close to half a million without power just in this part of the state. And it's real cold outside dammit. More than half the people at work are without power. I should post a pic of my willow trees, they bent on over almost to the ground, they popped back up today, more or less. | |

| Dang. So you still got to work every day during the storm? I'd be inside with a fire or a heater, trying to keep warm and cursing the Gods. Hope the people without power can keep warm okay. | |

| I just thought: if hammer is the verb, why don't we call the item that does the hammering a "hammerer"? We really should. | |

| Damn, that's harsh. Wonder who they get to do the clean up on all the roads blocked by trees. | |

| will they just wait for the ice to melt. I mean the trees are bent over cause the ice is heavy right so if it melts they will go back to normal. or will they chop them all down now? | |

| As I sit here in SD and bitch about it being 60 something degrees out, then look at pictures like Whizzle's buddy took, I find myself feeling a bit warmer inside. Say what you will, I love So Cal. So very, very much. I cannot fathom living in that kind of weather. I don't even own enough warm clothes to survive in that stuff. Hats off to you, my peeps to the east. -HECK! | |

| Another one he took below. Yeah, the ice melts, the tree are cools, but the branches that fell are still in the road. Thing is, normally round here it's a tornado, but this is the whole part of the this state, so everybody has these massive tree limbs on houses, in the streets, etc. So the normal clean up don't apply. You pretty much just have to do it yourself. I figure I got a full day of hauling limbs, and then a day to burn them. But I like the burn part, get to have a big fire, it's cool. | |
