Black Friday

I was off to dreamland last night, drifting along on a sea of turkey and a bottle of wine....only to be rudely awakened this morning by my brother informing me it was ten to four (a.m.!!) and it was "time to go shopping" . I think I was still legally drunk at that time, and his plan of going to fight the crowds to get a cheap laptop was nuts!!!
We went to Staples, (opened at six a.m), because they'd advertised a laptop for $349. I have 2 laptops, and could care less if they were giving the damn things away. But I am a GOOD sister, and drove them to the office supply store thinking it was stupid to get there at quarter to five. I mean, who the hell is going to stake out an office supply store? HAAAAA!!! There were about 40 people in line ahead of us, and the line grew to about 200 people by the time they opened. The peeps in the front of the line had lawn chairs, blankets, coolers, NO sense of humor, & had obviously been out there all night.
About 5:30, three people walked up, and decided they were starting their own entrance line on the other side of the doors. Waves of unrest started moving through the main line, and the all-night group started shouting at the 3 line jumpers. The line jumpers told them to screw off, so the all-nighters shouted back to the rest of our line,(now 100 people strong) that these people were trying to get the jump on everyone else. :ahhh: Everyone started going beserk, and I thought someone was going to shed blood before it was over. Fortunately, the cops showed up about 5 minutes later,and the store manager came out with the tickets, handing them out down the line to those who wanted the big ticket items, and about ten feet from us said there were no more laptops. My brother refused to leave the line though, and when the guy got to us, he got a ticket for laptop #20 out of 22. He's ecstatic, got his laptop, and it took me until 3:30 this afternoon to see him and his family out the door, and on their way back to Tampa. I am ready to fall over from sleep loss, and I can't believe that people go out and do this every year! This whole idea of sitting in line and getting into a war to save some money on something like that is INSANE, and I will never, ever do it again. Anybody else go out today? I can only imagine what kind of crap went on at places like Best Buy and Walmart, if we almost had a riot an an office supply store!

Momma wanted to go out but Daddy wouldn't wake up and the wine we had last night took me to a deep sleep and she didn't want to wake me. But she did get a friend of hers to go with her and they came back bearing many gifts! None of which we get until christmas..... *mumble grumble*

I stayed at home all day. I went out once on this Friday, and it was packed and crowded and crazy, so I just stay in doors and watch t.v. or get on the net.

I would normally stay home, I'd planned to work on Paige's bedroom make-over, but I was just wiped all day and got nothing done. In good news, I did get a digital picture frame for $50, and I finally got a new photo program for $19! I'm getting ready to load it, and see if I can't start making some new pics to use in my signature.

Black Friday for me means don't leave the house.

It's like the friggin' Apocalypse man!

I got up at like 9am, but didn't even put on pants til 5:30 when I went to go have dinner with my Dad. Things had calmed down quite a bit by then.

I went to bed at 1am and my alarm went off at 2:45am. We left a little after 3 and shopped unti 12. It was my first balck friday. It wasn't bad, it was actually pleasant, no hoorror stories to tell, until we left or little town and ventured to the big city, at about 8 this morning. the big city being greensboro. It wasn't pleasant at all. Toy R Us was horrible. The lines were outragous. Every where else was only slighly crowded or not crowed at all and most people were very helpful. I was ready to leave the mall when I heard some people inthe elevator talking about the shooting that happened last year in Kaybee toys and some other store in the mall
