| I guess there's controversy about this movie and how the original books are anti-catholic. So now the catholic church is asking everyone to boycott the film. The first time I saw the teaser it looked like it could be good, but now that I'm seeing the entire preview, it looks kinda lame anyway. But don't people realize that the more you tell people NOT to watch it, the more they're gonna want to watch it? isn't Nicole Kidman a catholic? why would she be in it if it were so anti-catholic? is anyone interested in seeing this at all? | |

| Big controversy on this one on my other board. Something about the author being an atheist, and killing God at the end. The big complaint there is that they're marketing the movie to children, and be sure you know what it's about if you're going to take your kids. ??? Isn't that a normal thing you do before taking your kids to see a movie anyway? | |

| Sometimes a movie is just a movie. Because Narnia is an allegory to Christianity then a movie based on a book that has parallels to atheism is automatically bashed? Movies, like literature, is an artform. Now we have a person who wrote a screenplay based on a book. A director takes that screenplay and, wait for it, directs people to act out this movie through his vision based on a person who wrote a screenplay based on a book they read. Then actors pretend to be the characters that the director wants, based on a screenplay someone wrote which was based on a book. Yeah, I'm sure the authors original vision is still going to be in the movie. Please. Movies are what you take home. Not to mention there's a talking fucking polar bear in a gold armor suit. These nutty religious groups are the biggest horses ass, hypocrital bunch of self-righteous shit-for-brains in the world. -HECK! | |

| ROFL!! Tell me what you really think Heck. All anybody does by calling for a ban on a movie is to bring more attention to it. If you don't want to see a movie, don't go see it. Simple as that. If I spent ten million bucks making a movie, I'd want every group in the world to ban it. I.E., there is no bad publicity, unless you're Brittany Spears and you're talking about the judge handling your child custody case with a reporter eavesdropping.... | |

| You're exactly right. These mouth breathers make a big stink and all they do is generate revenue for the exact thing they despise. It's like when Dogma came out. All these pea brains with their eyes all close together start picketing it. News cameras show up and ask if they've seen the movie. Of course they haven't. See, right after sending in that check for their life savings to the 700 Club or Benny Hinn, their preacher said the movie was evil. Since thinking for themselves is out the window, they go picket. Fucking people. Don't they have Harry Potter books to burn or Commandments to tatoo on their asses. I'm going to start picketing Hugh Grant movies. Hugh Grant sucks, I don't like his message, therefore no one should ever see his movies. -HECK! | |

| You guys kill me, you really do! I must object Hugh Grant bashing. The man's just hot, and with an accent like that, well, a guy can get away with most anything. Shame he got caught with a hooker. I wouldn't a charged him. Well, not much anyway.... | |

| I will admit, he's not the worst. But doesn't he act exactly the same in every movie? That little English stutter he has. Same haircut. Same mannerisms. You show me Hugh Grant in a movie with a mohawk and a So Cal accent, I'll show you a Hugh Grant I wouldn't kick out of bed for eating crackers... I mean, what? -HECK! | |

| Look at the whole deal from the other side. Say a nice athiest family goes all out for this new movie out. The movie is cool, nothing real Christian in it. Or Hindu, or whatever. They go see it, things are good, they dig it. They go out and buy the books unawares. Their young athiest child is reading the book, and out of the blue, here comes a bunch of Jesus Saves, or Buddah is your master, or Allah wants you to not eat some sort of food. I see the Atheists parents feeling like they got ripped off, and some religious nuts moved in on their territory. Blindsided. I see this whole deal as more of a parents rights issue. Parents have a right to screen what they show their kids, and these groups are just trying to let parents know what the books are all about. | |
