Lost, Season 3, Ep 22: Through the Looking Glass (5/23/07)

SEASON FINALE - Jack and his fellow castaways begin their efforts to make contact with Naomi's rescue ship.

During the previews that they showed, for the season finale, Jack says "I love you" to someone. The camera clips to Kate, and then to another scene.

I am wondering if he says that to Kate, or she witnesses Jack making this statement to Juliet.

WOW! I really liked last nights show, but still had some problems with all the flash forwarding, in Jack's life. Still, there's a lot happening on the island, and it seems like we're left with a lot of questions, as usual.

I loved seeing Hurley drive in, with the van, and take out one of the "others" and save the day. That rocked.

I cried when Charlie died. I don't understand WHY he had to close the door. They could have both been out. Sure, he was trying to stop Desmond from coming in, to talk to Penny, so that he wouldn't die. BUT, had they left the door open, then they could have both gotten out. It was a waste to have him die, when he didn't need to. I'm glad that he gave him the message, on his hand... but, now that Naomi is dead, don't know how that will help. Unless he will warn the group and they will know that Penny isn't on the boat, and then they might figure out that Ben was telling the truth, and those coming aren't good.

I loved that Jack admitted to Kate that he loves her. I don't know what will happen from that, but it's obvious that Kate also loves Jack. She cares about Sawyer, but she's not in-love with him. Don't understand why Juliet kissed Jack... and if there is something going on there. So, we might have that to deal with for another two seasons.

WTF is up with John Locke? He killed Naomi... why? Did Walt tell him this? And was that really Walt, or something on the island? That's going to be interesting... to see what happens next.

Maybe whoever the people are that Naomi was with, that are coming to the island, will cause the survivors and the others to team up together.

I loved that Benry told Alex who her mother is. I loved that reunion... though, it was short lived.

When they kept showing all the flashes, of Jack, in the future, he goes to a funeral home. We don't know who was in the coffin... but it's someone that both Kate and Jack knew.

After they made contact with he unknowns on Naomi's boat, we see Locke heading out.

With Ben out out of the way, Locke is free to return to Jacob and help him. How, by freeing him from the trap that Ben had set him in. Remember all the dusty stuff surround the shack that Jacob is in, it's holding him, that's why no smoke monster for several episodes... Jacob is the smoke monster, or at least controls him. .. Remember all the sandy patches around the cabin/shack... smoke monster trails..

So Locke goes back to Jacob frees him and the smoke monster is showing Jack what will happen if they leave the island... Remember Locke made a concoction from plants for Boone, then the smoke monster showed him his sister being picked up and killed by it, only to see her alive on the beach later..

I think tonights episode ended with the call to the boat and that was it.. all of the flash forwards are from the smoke monster showing Jack why he must not leave.

Thoughts???

Man, if I wasn't confused before last night then the finale sure did it.

I figured that Jack was seeing the flash forwards after the phone call. If he was seeing them before, he never would have picked up the phone.

I don't know about the smoke monster but I figured after last night that the monster took the form of Walt, Ben's Mom, Jack's Dad, Kate's Horse, Echo's Brother...all of them...trying to enlist the survivors help.

And I too didn't understand how Charlie died. But again, maybe since Mikael blew the window out, we'll see a miraculous escape? Maybe? Or just wishful thinking on my part?

Eh...I don't know.

Kate was lookin good with her makeup on.

Maybe Charlie figured that, as Desmond told him of the vision, that he MUST die, or Claire and Aaron wouldn't be rescued.

What's buggin' the EFF out of me is...who was in that coffin???

Well, it could have been different people.

Some speculate that it must have been Michael (Walt's dad) because the funeral home was in the "ghetto" While others think that it was John Locke, or Benry. I have absolutely no idea. I looked at screen pics, up close, of the article that Jack took from the newspaper, and you can't read it. GRRRRR....

I loved how they ended it. I just hope it's a possible future, and that they avoid it, like one of Desmond's flashes.

But it could be, they really are off the Island, got rescued and can't go back. Season 4 could be some of them trying to find it again. I don't really care for that storyline, but it could work if done right.

Somebody better go back because I still have too many questions about that place....way too many...

Man, this show is exhausting.

I would hope that it's not a "real" future, and they pick up back on the Island before the call is made.

But it would be a good contract dispute advantage on the part of ABC. They can pick or choose whoever they want, and put them back on the Island.



I was sad to see Charlie go. I didn't care for his character at all, but he went out like a man. I thought he was awesome when the blond chick was beating on him. Funny stuff.

You know... we don't know, for a fact, that Charlie is dead. One... we didn't see him die. We just saw that he was willing to die. Could he swim out that little port hole, and go up for air? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if he's dead. But, maybe there is a small possibility that he survived. Anything is possible... esp on Lost.


I don't believe that next season will see the survivors rescued right at the beginning. I think that the people that might arrive at the island have ill intentions, and it's going to be a much harder time on them trying to survive.

I think he is dead only cause he has been around interviewing saying they killed him off, but that he is still boyfriend to the actress who plays Kate.


I figured they will pair up Claire with Desmond now. They had a couple of scenes where they hit it off. Make Penny jealous.

If they are even on the Island anymore next season.

I very much like that theory.

It took me a long time to get to sleep after that finale. Lawless, you have helped me with your theory. I hope it is correct. I forgot about Boone's seeing that about Shannon. With Desmond seeing the future and things like that happening, really anything is possible. With the monster appeaing as Walt, no telling what happened between him and Locke. I think we will definitely see what happened with Locke next season. I am sure they will pick up the story from Locke's point of view.
Who is in the casket?
I have no idea.
Clues that I saw: very poor neighborhood, nobody came to the funeral, Kate did not want anything to do with the person that died and she wondered why Jack would even think she would go to the funeral, I thought the newspaper article said the deceased was male and was found in a park. That is what I heard. I will do some research on that.

The other big mystery I would really like to know is who was Kate talking about when she said "he will wonder where I am". The person I think of right off is Sawyer.
They have eluded to Kate being pregnant in the last couple of episodes so I bet she has a baby. I definitely can't see Kate hauling a baby around all over the island though. Having a baby has certainly seemed to limit Claire's character.

Can someone tell me when Season 3 is going to be out on DVD???????

I haven't heard... but it should be soon, if they follow up like they have from previous seasons.

I think that I heard that season four won't be starting until Jan '08, so they might not rush it.

Does anybody have any ideas how to find out when Season 3 is coming out? Nobody seems to know.

I've tried looking for you, SJ! I don't see anything on the official Lost board. You might post a thread on the mb there, asking if anyone knows.

They haven't announced a date yet, but it'll be like a month or two before the fourth season premiere.

The DVDs are coming December 11th.

The fourth season won't start until early 2008, and they'll be showing 16 episode per season, completely uninterupted (meaning there will be a new episode each week until the end).
