| I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FRAKKIN' PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW!!! I hope to God that some other network picks up this show, because it rocks. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117964967.html?categoryid=14&cs=1 CBS has apparently nuked "Jericho," dismissed "Class" and closed the book on "Close to Home." Net wasn't commenting Tuesday, but several people familiar with the situation said none of the skeins has been given a series order for next season. "Close to Home" had been considered near dead for several months now, with "Class" on the longshot list, but there had been speculation that CBS would exercise some patience with "Jericho." Eye skeins getting better news this week include "How I Met Your Mother," which has been picked up for a third season. Eye's most buzzworthy laffer might seem to be a no-brainer for renewal, but CBS execs make producers sweat it out until the last minute. End for "Close to Home" comes after two seasons for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced drama. Cancellation also means that, for the first time in many years, Bruckheimer will be losing a show from his still impressive slate of hits. It's also the second consecutive year Bruckheimer has failed to place a new show on the nets' skeds. "The Class" is a heartbreaker for the small audience of the Warner Bros. TV-produced show, which seemed to find its creative voice toward the end of its shortened first season. It also produced stable ratings in the 8:30 p.m. slot, but the show's lofty auspices and huge pre-season hype had CBS execs hoping for more. As previously reported, "The Unit," "Numbers" and "Ghost Whisperer" will be back next season, as will "NCIS" and all three "CSI" skeins. Sole CBS frosh drama set to return is "Shark." Eye is also moving forward with another year of "Rules of Engagement." | |

| This post was over at the IMDB boards which also makes my heart brake. As a member of the crew of Jericho I would just like to thank all of you for your advanced efforts to save our show. Your e-mail, telephone, and bloggers barrage where the kind of valiant effort Mayor Green would have been proud of. Your excited comments and occasional criticisms of the show helped us to make the show better, it kept us honest. I truly thank you for being fans of Jericho.
I have to take a minute to tell you something about our show. The 42 minutes of Jericho you see each week takes us about 150 hours of production to create. I could not begin to tell you how many hours of script writing, location preparation, and post production take place per episode. This is where Jericho became exceptionally special for us, because when you work with a crew and cast of 100 people for 80 hours a week for nine months at a time under normal circumstances things can get stressful, but Jericho was different, we became a family. The crew and cast just jelled, we became a lean, mean TV making machine, and we rarely ever felt the anger that often comes with the job. That is what I will miss most about losing the show; it’s not seeing my friends everyday, and not feeling the battlefield comradely that was Jericho. In this crazy world that is Hollywood a crew like this comes few and far between.
To my friends from the show I say “I’ll miss you guys, and lets hit the Frog for a few cold ones” Thank you buddies, I’ll See you soon.

| Sucks. Hate when your show gets zapped after the first season. Happened to me a bunch of times. I thought this show was doing alright. I am surprised. Not to mention that CBS renews that shitty Ghost Whisperer show. Only reason people watch is for Jennifer Love-Hewitt's 'talents' bursting through tight shirts. On a side note, glad How I Met Your Mother was renewed. And Lawless, we still have BSG in January... -HECK! | |

| LOL Here's someone's response, on the Jericho mb: Don't fret! They are replacing Jericho with some fresh family friendly shows! There a musical about a casino in Laughlin, NV. That's wholesome family entertainment! Teach you kids how to gamble at a young age. It's the American Way! Then there is the show about the Private Eye/Vampire. Kids should love that one (and you too if you've had a lobotomy) And lastly, the most family friendly show of them all! "Swingtown" It's about Swingers in the 70s! you can use it to teach you kida all about sex with multiple partners. Godd ol' wholesome family entertainment! Thanks CBS for what looks like it will be an exciting fall season! | |

| I was pissed, last year, when they cancelled "Invasion" after season one. I wished that the sci-fi channel would have picked that up. Don't know who would pick up Jericho, but I hope that someone does. This is a kick ass show.
And you're right, Heck.... BSG is THE show. Still, Jericho was a very close second.

| It's pretty rare for anoter network to pick up a show, unless it goes to cable. Don't know if a channel like sci-fi could cover the production cost. I hope they do though for the loyal fans like yourself though. -HECK! | |

| How is it that Numb3rs keeps getting renewed? I tried watching it a couple of times, and man it was boring. Jericho was alright. I couldn't be bothered watching it every week like I do other shows, but I was planning on seeing it once the DVD was out. I just hope they finished on a note that doesn't annoy the fans of the show. Like when I used to watch Tru Calling. Man, the ending of that pissed me off royally. | |

-HECK! Oh, I'm just saying that I would have loved to see Sci-Fi pick up Invasion. They wouldn't touch Jericho, because it's not a sci-fi show... it's a show about war, and survival. Still, it was damn good.

| It wasn't their fault!!! And CBS is stupid. Jericho had a very big following. And a lot of loyal fans. People are getting sick of too many reality shows. Especially those that require no skill. I stopped watching Survivor a long time ago. It just sucks. And the other ones... I'm not interested in. I like American Idol, because it's people with real talent, striving to make something of themselves. | |

| I was honestly sick of reality when it first came out. As soon as they announced Big Brother, I was like 'uh oh'. Civilization is over. Unfortunately for us, to the studios, the low cost is more ideal than the million dollars or whatever they spend per episode of Jericho. Or any other show, really. Also, I've never really believed in the ratings system... most people I knew who had one of those box dealies back in Australia liked the lamest shows. | |

| Yeah, I cried when Johnston Greene was killed. Watching his boys with him, in the final moment, before he died, was heart wrenching. And Eric just lost his ex-wife, and child... so, it's a triple blow to him. SOMEONE has got to pick this show up!! | |

| I don't understand WHY CBS is doing this!!! The ratings aren't bad. I wonder if it's just the amount of hours that they are spending, each week, to make this show, and the amount of money that it's costing them. It just doesn't make sense. | |

| Jericho cancelledMay 16, 2007 Well, CBS has announced they won’t be bringing post-apocalyptic drama Jericho back for a second season. It’s not too surprising, as the ratings never really picked up again after its long hiatus, especially since CBS brought it back by pitting it against American Idol. Why did Jericho get cancelled? That’s easy to answer: the ratings weren’t good enough. But that’s the network’s own fault, say many fans. Jericho didn’t do badly at all at the start of the season, but then they sent it on an extremely long hiatus – from November to February. For a serial drama with so much going on week to week, this was not a good plan, as a lot of viewers didn’t remember what had happened previously. They did a recap episode (essentially a clip show) but that didn’t really help. And when they finally brought it back, they put it up against Fox’s monster hit American Idol’s Wednesday night results show. What made the network executives think that was a good idea? The producers of Jericho didn’t think the show would be cancelled, clearly, as they set up the season finale to be a major cliffhanger. On the CBS Jericho site, the producers said the season finale was “most definitely not a series finale! In fact, by the time it’s over, you’ll have some great clues about where our story is headed in its second season.” Now we’ll probably never know what they had in mind. What happened to Heather Lisinski? Will Jericho survive the attack by New Bern without Johnston Green leading them? Will Skylar ever learn whether her parents are still alive? Fans have started online petitions, as is usual when favorite shows are cancelled. One, at petitiononline.com, had nearly five thousand signatures by this morning. It’s unlikely, however, that this will have any effect on the CBS decision. | |

| They sure left a helluva lot of cliffhangers to just go and cancel it like that. Part of the reason I don't try new shows, you get burned most of the time. Just stupid. I wish Sci Fi would pick it up. | |

| CBS cancels 'Jericho,' aiming for edgy
POSTED: 2:20 p.m. EDT, May 16, 2007 Story Highlights• CBS cancels "Jericho," says show "lost a lot of steam" • New shows said to be edgier • Network will have five new shows NEW YORK (AP) -- CBS canceled the nuclear apocalypse drama, "Jericho," on Wednesday, another sign that TV networks are shying away from serial dramas after overloading on them last season. The network unveiled a fall schedule with five new shows, three of them dramas. "Jericho" started out strong last fall for CBS. However, like "Lost" on ABC and "Heroes" on NBC, many viewers abandoned the show after it went on a long midseason hiatus. "We lost a lot of steam," said Kelly Kahl, CBS' chief scheduling executive. "I know we had loyal viewers ... but the show sort of lost its engine and wasn't performing." CBS' only new show that is heavily serialized, "Swingtown," will start in midseason and run uninterrupted until the end of the season. The series is set in the shag-carpeted 1970s, with Chicago-area couples navigating the sexual freedom of the era. To counter its stodgy image, CBS has scheduled a handful of edgy new shows for the fall: a musical, a drama about a vampire and a drama about a Cuban-American family running a sugar business in Florida. "For those of you who accuse CBS of being too conservative, you will feel differently when you see the shows we have lined up," said Leslie Moonves, chairman of CBS Corp. A new reality show, "Kid Nation," will take 40 children and set them up in an abandoned New Mexico town. Cameras will follow them as they try to set up their own society without adult supervision. Veteran actor Jimmy Smits is the patriarch in "Cane," about the family sugar business. "Moonlight," about a vampire in modern society, is another one of a handful of high-concept ideas networks are trying out next year. Hugh Jackman produces "Viva Laughlin," an adaptation of the BBC show "Viva Blackpool," about a shady businessman. Music plays a central part in driving the series along. The Monday comedy "The Big Bang Theory" seems like a sitcom version of "Beauty and the Geek," with two brainy guys flustered by a sexy new neighbor. CBS canceled "The Class" and "Close to Home." The comedy "The New Adventures of Old Christine" was left off the fall schedule but will be used at midseason. Copyright 2007 The Associated Press.
