| Over one million Harry Potter advance orders on Amazon LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc. said on Tuesday it had booked more than 1 million advance orders for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," scheduled for release in late July. The online retailer also lowered its price on the book to $17.99 from $18.89. It said it would honor the lower price for customers who had already ordered the book, the seventh in the wildly popular series by J. K. Rowling about a boy wizard and his struggle against the forces of evil. More than 620,000 copies have been ordered in advance in the United States, with more than 250,000 in the United Kingdom, Amazon said. Advance orders for this book have surpassed those in 2005 for Rowling's sixth release, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." In April, Barnes & Noble Inc said that advance orders for the book had topped 500,000 copies, breaking the bookseller chain's record for the most advance requests in its history. The book, which is published in the United States by Scholastic Corp and in Britain by Bloomsbury, officially goes on sale on July 21. -------- -HECK! | |

| I would like to know how many pre-orders Borders book store has taken in. I pre-ordered through them, and my mom did as well. | |

| If I'm not mistaken some of Borders' online orders could be in Amazon's total. Borders.com is powered by Amazon. -HECK! | |

| Yeah... I know. BUT, you can also go to Borders and order, and it doesn't goto amazon.com. It's a bit confusing. But, maybe they have their order numbers all compiled into one. I don't know. | |

| I would assume the Borders in-store orders are separate. They could account for the Borders online orders. But that's just Amazon. Barnes & Noble is over a half mill, Wal Mart sells them I bet, Target, bunch of other places. I don't get people who want to buy more than one to keep because they think it's going to be worth something. It's like, what makes an item worth something is how rare it is. This book won't be rare ever. We are going to build a bridge to the moon with discarded Pooter books in a few centuries. The pages will be become or world currency. The spines will become transplants for human spines. -HECK! | |

| Well, we are members of the rewards club at Borders, and you get e mails, all the time, with specials. You click on a link to pre-order the HP book... and it wasn't amazon.com, so who knows. You're right... that is amazing. A lot of books, just pre-ordered. But, people have been anticipating this final book for years, Heck. This is it... no more HP after July. My mom is purchasing two... but one is a bday gift for my little cousin. I have double coupies of the HP books... but that's because I get a hardback and then, get the paperback when it comes out. Then, I reread the paperback from then on. Also, I have a third copy of HP and the Order of the Phoenix... but, it's a first edition, UK print. It's so damn sweet. | |

| I am a Borders card member person too. I checked an older e-mail right now and it went to Borders.com... which is just apart of Amazon.com. Hardback and paperback makes sense. British edition sounds like a cool little collectors item. But buying an extra one to put away like it's going to be worth X-Men #1 or something is insane. -HECK! | |

| Yes, sometimes when you click on something, it takes you to amazon.com and other times it takes you to their actual store website. If you type in www.borders.com it takes you to amazon. But, if you do a google search for "borders" it will take you to their own site. Some people buy extra copies to put away for another family member... or for a collectors type thing. Who knows. I wouldn't do that. I like to READ my books. If I want a collectors edition then that's different, and I put it up, and don't read it. But, it has to be different... like the first edition print from UK that I got. Not something that you can waltz into a store, here, and purchase. | |

| It's a great gift idea, that's for sure. The UK one would be cool. The cover's look better. There is this British author I like who wrote a few dope ass books. I caught up with him in SD a few years back and brought my books to be signed. I'm a book nerd at times, whatever. But some of these dudes had the hardback British sweet versions they payed an assload for on eBay. Yes, I was jealous. -HECK! | |

| The cover looks WAY better, actually. And, they are smaller, and fatter, books as well. What Brit are you talking about? I have two of the three books that Timothy Zahn (I think that's his name) wrote for the Star Wars series (following Return of the Jedi) signed by him. That was a nice little find at Barnes & Noble. | |

| Shit, the Heir To The Empire trilogy? Those books kicked major ass. Old school. Love those things. Zahn single handidly shaped the Star Wars book universe. Dude is cool. The British author I met is named Richard K. Morgan. He wrote a tits ass book called Altered Carbon and the follow-up Fallen Angels. As a matter of fact, I'll make a thread for it. -HECK! | |

| Yeppers... I LOVED the Heir to the Empire trilogy. And I couldn't believe that I found those books. I had them before (years back) but lost a lot of my books when moving, etc... across country. He was at the Barnes & Noble near my house, about 4 years ago (I think it was) and had done a signing... but I missed it. So, he signed a few extra, and they put them on the shelf. Sold them for the normal price. I grabbed 'em right up. Cool about making a thread on that Brit guy. I want to hear about the books. | |

| Signed Heir Trilogy books, nice. Morgan wrote some dope stuff. I just read that his third Kovaks novel is out. Man, can't believe I missed it. Guess it's going to be the last one with that character. He also has another book coming out in June. Dopeness. -HECK! | |

| I've never had to pre-order a Harry Potter book... just gotta run into the bookstore in the morning and grab a copy. There's never even been a line. Though last time there was about 5 or 6 news reporters hanging out that I had to try and avoid. I could see of them eyeing me when I entered the store, but they were already interviewing someone else and I was in and out before they could finish. Muahahahaha. | |
