Judge sentences Paris Hilton to JAIL

A shocked Paris Hilton has been ordered to spend 45 days in jail after a Los Angeles judge ruled the hotel heiress and socialite violated her probation for alcohol-related reckless driving.
Superior Court judge Michael Sauer said he believed the 26-year-old reality TV star knowingly disobeyed the law by driving while her license was suspended and ordered her to report to jail on June 5.
"I think she has wanted to disregard everything that was said and continued to drive no matter what," Sauer before passing sentence.
He added, "The probation is revoked. Forty-five days in jail."
Sauer made the decision after a two-hour hearing during which Hilton insisted she was unaware that her driving privileges had been suspended when she was pulled over for driving without headlights on February 27.
Hilton said said her publicist Elliott Mintz had told her she was permitted to drive for work-related reasons.
"I did not want to break the law," she told the judge "I did what I was told. I would never drive just because I want to. I follow the law and I respect the law. From now on I want to pay complete attention to everything."
"I just want to say I'm sorry," she said before being sentenced.
But the judge said he did not believe Hilton was ignorant of her driving restrictions saying she had "completely ignored" a notice given to her by a police officer that she had signed during an earlier traffic stop in January notifying her that her license was suspended.
After sentence was imposed, Hilton's mother Kathy yelled at a prosecutor "you're pathetic."
The socialite's attorney, Howard Weitzman, said she was singled out for being a celebrity.
"To sentence Paris Hilton to 45 days in jail is inappropriate and borders on ludicrous. It is clear that she has been selectively targeted for prosecution for who she is.
"I think she was honest in her testimony. We do intend to appeal to the judge and to a higher court to modify the sentence."
Hilton was placed on three years probation earlier this year for pleading no contest - the equivalent of a guilty plea - to alcohol-related reckless driving after a September 2006 arrest in Hollywood.
She landed in hot water again in late February, when she was pulled over on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood for driving without headlights. Police impounded her car, a $US190,000 blue Bentley, when they discovered she was driving on a suspended license.
Hilton's latest legal problems come a little more than three weeks before her reality TV show, The Simple Life, co-starring her friend Nicole Richie, returns to the airwaves for a fifth season. The series has already been taped.

It's about damn time. There is karma in this world.

heheeh this is just insane, people with money like her family does are above the law, particularly things as trivial as driving a car while totally smashed off your nut. It's about high time people realized this.

Why, after the everything, and the mom yelled out to the judge, was she not placed in contempt? I would have slapped a fine on her bitchy ass.

And I hope that the appeal is shot down. I'm sick and tired of celebs (well, she is NOT a celeb) getting away with everything. If I was pulled over for driving on a suspended license, I wouldn't be let off the hook. Neither should this pathetic piece of scuzzy street walking dirt get off without being penalized.

They was a guy on Nancy Grace last night that said that in other circuit courts, an outburst by the mother like that at the proscector would get her contempt of court.

These people just don't get it.

Two times Paris got caught violating her parole. Sheesh, it is about time the skank was sent to jail. She had the $$$ to have a driver, so she should have used her wait??? no she has no brains, she should have listened to her lawyer and not driven.

I bet she gets her act together in the driving department when she gets out.

Regardless though, she's not going to be in general population. She'll be alone, away from the other prisoners and probably get treated like the little celebubitch she is.

In theory, I'd like to see her in general population, but in real life, I think she would wind up killed or raped.

If you can be raped by another woman. I think you can. It's not Federal Pen, only county jail, but still, those places get brutal.

I hate Paris but she don't deserve no violence on her for a DUI. I hope she cries and stuff in solitary, wherever they put her, and whines about not having her blackberry, but that's enough punishment for me.

Paris calls on Ahhhnold to Terminate her jail sentence

Headed-to-jail heiress Paris Hilton has posted an online plea on her MySpace page asking fans to sign a petition to Arnold Schwarzenegger requesting a pardon from the California governator.





“My friend Joshua started this petition, please help and sihn (sic) it,” the heirhead wrote “i LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!”




The entreaty - which garnered just over 4,000 signatures by yesterday evening - urges Aaaaaahnold to pardon Hilton because she provides “beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives.”


Puh-leeze!


Aaron Mclear, a Schwarzenegger spokesman, told the media that the governor’s office hadn’t yet reviewed the petition but has received a bevy of e-mails from constituents both for and against a gubernatorial pardon.




“We’ll treat this as we would any other case of this nature, but it would be premature for the governor to get involved until the individual has exhausted his or her judicial remedies,” McLear added.


That is, Schwarzenegger will give Hilton an answer when and if the appeals process - which her lawyers started Monday - fails her.

Man. Take it like a man. Or a woman. Just eat your bitter herb and be done with it. Don't whine to Arnold over a fregin 45 day prison term.

This aint you life at stake here. It will be like summer camp.

The Paris is just fanning the flames, making it that much harder on herself. Grow a spine already, and don't let em see you sweat. Martha Stewart did it, and she had a lot longer of a stay.

You should see this pettition. It makes me fuckin' sick.
