I have a piece of raisin stuck between my molars and I have no floss with me at work.

Also, I washed my new black pants and now they are covered in tiny lines of grey from where they bunched up in the washing machine and the black dye washed out slightly more on the wrinkles.

The thing that is annoying me right now is that I went to two stores trying to buy some regular ol' office supply tape and the size that I wanted was sold out at both stores.

I'm becoming very frustrated with some of the people at work. I work in a heavily male-dominated job, and in my area (production), I'm the only woman. That may be why some of these comments make their way to me.

A few weeks ago I was told by Dude A that if he were my supervisor, he would teach me different tasks than he'd be teaching the other temps (who are all men). He told me that because I'm a woman, he doesn't think that I should do the same work as men. It would be too difficult for me. I told Dude A that I didn't want to be treated differently or given different work because I am a woman. If I need help lifting something, I'll ask, but most of the jobs that we do on the production floor don't involve heavy lifting. The job that Dude A thought would be too difficult for me was just squaring some corners with a pocket knife.

Last week I was told that I'd make a good house-wife. I told Dude B that I'd be bored if I had to stay home all day, and that I would be happier if I worked outside the home. He told me I could do both. I could earn a second paycheck for my family and then cook and clean when I got home. One of the other guys in the break room jumped in to say that I could share all the cooking and house chores with a husband so that it was fair.

Yesterday Dude B told me to go wash the dishes because he wanted some clean plates. I told him to not dare to say that to me and he can wash his own damn plates. I said that I'm not touching them anymore if he feels like ordering me to do them.

Today, my supervisor, who is a really nice guy, told me in an undertone that he heard through the gossip mill that supposedly there is something going on between myself and him. We were both distressed, because he is married and my boss, and I don't want that kind of rumor to go around about me. Neither of us behave in a way that I would think would make people really believe that we are fooling around, since we arrive at and leave work at different times, almost never eat together, and don't meet with each other outside of work except for one retirement party in which half the production floor was also there. I have been approached by men at work that are interested in me and have not encouraged their attention, so maybe it's because I'm an attractive and single young woman who gets along well with my supervisor, so obviously there must be an affair. Young women don't just befriend their bosses unless there's something else going on, right?

Stupid people.

That sounds like a terrible situation. I think that kind of sexist environment could get really tough. I mean on the one hand you want to prove you can take it, on the other hand you have to show them you won't put up with their bullshit. I'd personally go with a 'give what you get' approach, but I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. Attacking their manhood perhaps. Like if a man says he'd teach you different jobs to the men, you could say "yeah, you should be afraid I'd show you up" or something stupid like that. It's kind of like showing you're not going to take it lying down.

I couldn't personally do it. I'm not quick witted enough to say shit like that on the fly. I have to think a few seconds, and by then it's too late.

Oh and what's bothering me... well, normally I wouldn't complain in public, but how many people are really going to read this?

My wife's against gay marriage. I'm for it. Wholeheartedly. Her reasons are basically religious and I don't know how to help steer her in the right direction without completely attacking her religion. But now it's an issue I want to put stuff on facebook supporting it, but I'm wondering how far her church friends (who are my facebook friends) will take it if they see my support. So, yeah, I don't know. At least she's not against gay people in general, just the marriage aspect of it.

I think that there's a way with the new privacy settings that you can make sure that certain people don't see your posts, even if they are your friends. It's that way for pictures, at least.

Or you could be like, hey, I don't get angry when you post stuff against gay marriage, so there's no need for you to get angry when I post stuff supporting it. Are you more concerned about their reaction to you or that they'll say something to your wife?

I don't know, I kind of hope her church friends bring it up and want to discuss it with me. Could cause a lot of tension, but I wouldn't mind telling them off.

There are english captions. It really infuriates me. They're acting like only gay people are promiscuous. And that they're all off their nut high on whatever. Pisses me off. Just... Argh... That's not even mentioning the fact they essentially compare it to bestiality. Tossers.

I got less than a minute into the video before my computer crashed just on principle.

They had an anti-gay rally (they called it a pro family, but I can read between the lines). It was disturbing the way they acted, actually. Some pro-gay activists tried to display their banners there and they essentially held stopped them from going any further and/or leaving. Lawyers are getting involved, but the whole rally seems like it was a big screw up.

There's also a video going around online of a chick talking to one of the demonstrators trying to explain why their arguments against gay marriage are complete hogwash. She was supposedly quite eloquent.

The conversation didn't do much for me because, while the woman she was talking to kind of got turned around, really - I think most of the conversation went right over her head. Because she finished with "yeah, and I know gay people are good art artistic things... and we need more artists." About as deep as me having a conversation about life, the universe, and everything with my dog.

Something's really got me annoyed lately. You know those things on facebook where someone posts a picture of, say, a baby on the brink of death and puts "1 like = 1 pray". Bullshit. Stop being a like whore and do something productive to help society. Not to mention, the accounts that do shit like that tend to be collecting likes so they can sell the accounts later on. YES, you are actively helping someone make money off a dying baby.

The ones that really get my goad is the ones that continue with "1 share = 1 help". WHAT THE FUCK IS 1 HELP!?!?! You have to be retarded to actually think sharing is going to provide the kid with "one help."

The thing that gets me, too, is I saw one the other day of a kid in China who was stabbed by his mother. No mention of the story on the facebook post, of course, so not giving the story the respect it deserves. But they say "pray to Allah for him". Okay, whatever. I let people have their religion and pray because it makes them feel happy. However you can imagine how the comments on the photo went. People basically saying he's ignorant and they won't pray to Allah, but they will pray to Jesus Christ the one true lord and savior and what have you. Are they stupid? They're the exact same thing. If my wife called God "Shen" they'd probably have a go at her for it, even though it literally means God, and a Christian God at that.

They can't say "Jesus" is the same thing as "God" (because we "know" there is only one true God) and then turn around and say "Allah is something completely different because, you know what, fuck you and your religion." There was one woman who said (in a really condescending way) that it's okay that they were ignorant and honored Allah, because they didn't know the true power of Jesus Christ. I swear, fuck that bitch. You believe in all of that shit and you have the gall to call others ignorant?

Please, people, be religious in the way you want to be, in a way that makes you happy, but for fuck's sake have some respect for other people who believe in something completely different. Because, really, you'll find that about 95% of people are going to believe in something completely different to you, even if there are only minor differences.


Sorry, I know I've complained about Christians twice in a row, but I'm tired of people not respecting others. I have a lot of respect for Christians and Christianity (in many respects, not all). My wife is a devout Christian and goes to church every week, prays a few times every day. It doesn't bother me because it makes her immensely happy. She's a kind, loving person who respects the fact that I'm not religion and that other people have different beliefs.

I'm just tired of dumbasses.

One of the production leads at my company made an announcement today. She has a "shake box" that she got from her most recent Communication class. When she sees someone sitting at their desk for what she thinks is too long, she'll go up to that person and shake a noisy rattle-y box at them. When she does that, that person and everyone in earshot has to stand up and stretch.

Can't she just stick to assigning production tasks and helping solve problems that people bring to her? If I'm in the zone soldering a circuit board, the last thing I want is for this chick to come up in my face and shake a noisy box at me. Because she wants to help me, and because it's for my own good. We are all adults and can decide for ourselves when we want to stretch.

Yeah, my experience with lean was when we spent a whole day putting tape on the floors to designate where our carts were supposed to be. Then we re-organized the shop and had to pull up all the tape.

I want to shove that rattle you-know-where for sure. I complained to a guy at work and he said it reminded him of when he worked at Intel and there were scheduled stretching sessions and sign-alongs. Sing-alongs?? Oh please no, I hope it doesn't come to that at my work.
