Volunteer firefighter Steven S. Cole, 46, of Waynesville, is "obviously humiliated," according to his attorney.

MASON, Ohio—A man wearing a string bikini and woman’s wig when arrested on a drunken-driving charge told police he was on his way to compete as a woman in a contest at a bar, according to authorities.
A trial date of May 24 was set for Steven S. Cole, 46, of Waynesville, when he was arraigned Tuesday in Mason Municipal Court.Cole was arrested Tuesday as he attempted to leave a park in his pickup after Mason police received a complaint of an intoxicated man walking and driving around the park.
Cole was wearing pink flip-flops and the top of the bikini was filled out by tan water balloons, police said. Cole told an officer he was on his way to a bar in Dayton, about 30 miles away, to compete for $10,000 prize, according to the police report.
Cole’s blood-alcohol level registered 0.174 percent, more than twice Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08 percent, the report said.
Cole also was charged with public indecency, disorderly conduct and having an open container of beer. He pleaded not guilty to all charges yesterday and remained free on his own recognizance.
Cole sought driving privileges to commute to and from work, but Chief Magistrate Eddie Lawson ordered a mental evaluation before ruling on that request, Prosecutor Robert Peeler said.
"He is obviously humiliated and embarrassed by the entire situation," said Charlie Rittgers, Cole’s lawyer, who is investigating the circumstances leading up to the arrest.
Cole did not return a call seeking comment.

Cole has been a volunteer firefighter in nearby Wayne Township since August 2000. Township officials issued a statement saying Cole would be placed on administrative leave.

What a numbnuts. Just imagine how humiliating that must be.

It's like this one time in high school a bunch of us, like 8 dudes, jumped the walls at the swim center at around midnight. During the summer nights we would hit the place on the weekends or go pool hopping at local hotels so it wasn't unusual. We were fuckin' around, going off the diving board, some of the guys grabbed this giant canoe and were paddling around, it was hilarious. Then the security guard comes. The canoe tips, we all jump the wall and are running like mofo's to our respective cars. I was rolling with two other buddies so we run to his car across the way. Now we were in our boxers, so we're pulling our shorts on as a cop rolls up right by me. Me and a buddy were next to each other, pulling our clothes on, not looking very flattering. I don't think the one cop knew exactly what was going on, so it was either say we trespassed into the swim center or let him think there was some fruity activity going on. Let's just say we all left on our own accord.

It's one of those things where you have to quit and leave town. There's just no going back from that. You would get ripped on for years. I'd even think about changing my name.

Poor guy, I hope he can transfer or something. Or at least keep his job. Would suck to lose all your benefits and pension and job over that.

Still, I don't know if I want that joker showing up to save me and the family in a fire. But he wasn't on the job...

A case like that, if I was judge, I'd have to get more info, look at this work record, see if he was sorry, maybe put him in rehab, I don't know what I'd do to him.

I know if I was a firefighter, I'd never let him forget it. He is gonna be in fistfights the rest of his life, or else become the station joke gimp.

If it was him just going to a bar contest I can see giving him some crap but eventually letting it go. No reason to drive drunk though. But if he was dressing like that to get some man ass then that's something else entirely.
