Woman upgraded after dying in economy during flight from Delhi to London




LONDON - A passenger in first class woke up to a shock when he found himself sitting near a corpse on a British Airways flight, British newspapers reported on Monday.

Paul Trinder, 54, said cabin crew moved the body of the elderly woman from the economy section where she had died after take-off, the Mirror and Sun tabloids said.

"The corpse was strapped into the seat but because of turbulence it kept slipping down on to the floor," Trinder, a businessman, was quoted as saying. "It was horrific. The body had to be wedged in place with lots of pillows."

The woman's daughter was also upgraded and spent the rest of the nine-hour flight from Delhi to London grieving next to her dead mother, the Sun reported.

The Guardian newspaper said the incident happened last week.

British Airways has apologized for any distress suffered, according to the reports. The Mirror quoted BA as saying: "We apologize, but our crew were working in difficult circumstances and chose the option they thought would cause least disruption."

You would figure the guy would think the old lady next to him was just dead asleep.

I'm thinking I put some coin out for first class, and instead of champane and cavier, I get a dead old lady next to me, I'm one pissed off individual.


And yeah, I can't spell cavier and some other words, but I paid for first class DAMMIT. What's with the dead chick?!?!?!

This reminds me of a Ben Stiller comedy or something. Some wacky shit happens to the hapless airplane passenger.

I would be pissed for sure. I can't imagine someone thinking that's really a good idea.

They should have just left her where she died, and let the poor sap in general flight put up with the dead body. Why they cracking on the rich dude?

He paid for a good flight, then got the short end of the stick.

Maybe it's in the small print on the airplane ticket: "If you are adjacent to an open seat a corpse may be placed next to you while you sleep."

What the hell is Delhi? I'm thinking it's India. I'm thinking about Mahesh again, as we were discussing his sorry *** in the other thread. Why are these East Asia Indians giving us such a hard time.

I'm not racist, at least I don't admit it, but these Indians are pissing me off.
