| Aight. My book review. Spoilers. I'd give it solid C, maybe a very low B minus. It kept me interested the whole time, but there was no pay off. To simple of a book with the storyline. 1. Dude is warned not to go into room. 2. Dude goes in room, sees a lot of weird ***. 3. Dude escapes the room barely. 4. Dude is sick and burnt, and has a loser life afterwords. The imagry he sees in the room, while creepy as hell, is not explained, and makes no sense to me. Vampire paintings, desert glow light, former vicitms in paintings, dead skin walls, melting lights, all very creepy to read about, but there was no explanation of these things. As for the movie, I still have hope, as in the book, he is just a guy who writes about haunted places. In the movie, he is trying to make contact with his daughter. | |

| I think it was just haunted. That's the explanation usually when there is no explanation. | |

| It might have been Tak, the demon elemental from Desperation/The Regulators. He was from the desert, and had the power to make thoughts into reality. Would explain the desert light in the room, etc. | |

| I don't know. Not sure if it was him. Just kind of leaned that way.
In the Regulators, he possesed an autisic boy who liked a version of power rangers (King/Bachman called them something else) and old westerns. Tak moved with him to Ohio suburbia, and turned the whole block into the wild west, with power ranger type vehicles showing up and killing off people. The book was too gory for me, and more than stupid. But you know, cool too.
In Desperation, Tak was still in the mineshaft in the desert, and got into a cop, who pulled people over and killed them. Desperation was the better book of the two in my opinion.
Both books, he was some kind of elemental demon who liked to cause trouble. The 1408 book said the voice on the phone (the voice of the room) was not human and had never been human, that it wasn't a ghost. So maybe it was Tak. | |

| But Tak possesses people, right? Hmm... well, I dunno. I saw the Desperation movie thing that was on TV last year... so I know that story. Never read Regulators - that's one of the Bachman books, right? I guess they can't be power ranges, those books are supposed to be pre-1975. But, then, King's apparently "found" another Bachman book, so who knows? | |

| This movie was just plain AWESOME! A good build-up at the beginning, and the whole deal with Sam L. Jackson warning Cusack about the room was brilliantly done. Once he's in the room, though, it doesn't take long for the shit to begin, and the room just keeps fucking with him until the very end. Seriously, the movie was exactly what I expected. Probably the best movie based on a Stephen King book/story I've seen. | |

| He wrote the song. And the music for it too. And he understands the actual math behind the Theory of Relativity. He once killed a Nazi general with his bare hands. And it wasn't even World War Two, it was like 1997. So the dude is smart and tough. | |
