Guns N' Roses in Taipei (10/12/2009)

I should have commented on this earlier. It was brilliant, seriously. Axl Roses is looking chubby as hell, but I heard he's off the coke so that makes sense. The musicians they have are fantastic, and the set list was extremely vast. They came out later than I thought (almost an hour after I thought they would) but they went for two and a half hours so who could complain?

Seriously, it was a funny professional concert, and I wouldn't have expected that from Guns N' Roses.

A good mix of old, classic stuff and the new songs. They pretty much played everything I wanted them to, bar perhaps Civil War and Don't Cry. But what can you do. I was surprised they did Better, which is a great song but I don't remember reading of them doing it live before so that kicks ass.

How did the new guitarist compare to Slash? Was it weird seeing someone else doing the guitar solos? I would think so, especially for November Rain, that image of Slash playing his (electric) guitar on the cliff (with no electrical cord:D ) is so iconic in my mind, I don't know if anyone could replace him.

It was funny?

They had 2 guitarists, and I thought they both did very well. I mean the solos sounded exactly as they should, and I thought their style was kind of mix of Slash and a more '00 look. They were young and energetic, so I thought it was pretty cool.

Then again, Slash is Slash, ya know? Doesn't matter, I see Slash every year at the NAMM show (just walking around with his 'posse'), so if he was there I'd be all like 'oh yeah, that dude.'

Sounds like a cool ass show. They played a ton. That's awesome.

How did Axl sound?

Buggered if I can remember. I don't remember being outraged at him having no voice, so he must've been doing okay. Dude can still belt.
