Overall, DS9 was a damn fine show. Hands down the best post-TNG Trek series.
The first few seasons dealt way too much with Bajoran politics. But the strong acting helped carry the show along.
In a great move, the addition of Worf starting in season 4 put it over the top.
You can say that Worf brought the TNG popularity with him, maybe took away from the stable of main and guest starring DS9 characters.
With the Klingon War and Dominion War, the show kept on rolling. Great twists. Great turns. Great character growth.
I will even say that the last two seasons of DS9 rival the last two years of TNG in over quality. I have the 6th and 7th season on DVD, love the war arcs.
You can thank Ron Moore for his great contribution.
Also, the DS9 universe was so different, so much expanded from the first to last episode. The station itself was a turd... by the end it was bad ass, and had the Defiant as backup. You fould out where Odo was from, Dax dies, Bashir was genetically altered like Khan, Worf joins and rules, Sisko gets promoted, a goatee, a chickadee, and deals with the prophets...
The action was great too. Starship battles were amazing.
I can ramble on for days.
I miss DS9. Up until the new movie, DS9 was the last best Trek we've had.
-HECK!
