Taken (2009)

Starring Liam Neeson and a couple of other people I recognize but don't know their names.

Liam Neeson is a retired... 'spy'? Something like that, who just wants to spend more time with his daughter. His ex-wife remarried a rich dude, and he doesn't seem to be able to come close to being able to make her happy the way the new dude does.

So then daughter wants to go to Europe for a holiday. Father's reluctant, but eventually agrees and off daughter goes with her friend. Father talks to daughter on the phone and while they're chatting, the daughter is snatched by kidnappers (she knows they're coming so she's able to give the father a bit of info).

Kidnapper grabs the phone and listens, and Lian Neeson says, in a moment of sheer badassness, "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

To which the kidnapper replies "goodluck"

And you can imagine what happened after that.

I totally want to see this movie. Was it kick ass, or a let down?

I thought it exceeded my expectations. Thoroughly enjoyed it. His swagger and his confidence made the movie all the more enjoyable. He didn't faulter, and he knew he was going to get his daughter back. And he did anything to make it happen. Oh man it was so kick ass.

Okay, that's it... I'm totally going to rent this one. Maybe Heather and I will do that this week, or next.

Loved this movie. "...And I will kill you." Awesome. He was just cool as the other side of the pillow, visceral when need be, always precise and surgical. Dude kicked all kind of butt and I dug the hell out of it. Surprisingly good action and slick plot.

Afterward I thought this would have been a good film for Harrison Ford about 10 years ago. But Liam does exceptional.
