What books did you have to read in high school?

I can't remember everything we had to read, exactly, but these are the ones that left a lasting impression (either good or bad):

We had to read most of those (except Cantaburt Tales, I read that oneon my own)

I would just watch the movie. I never read for English class. I didn't really get into books until later. I thought I had a learning disability or I was retarded, but I realized I just wasn't interested. Don't get me wrong, was in the honors english class and all that. Did well too. All the books were just snore fests. I remember freshman year I aced the exam on The Lord Of The Flies. We had watched the movie in the class the day before. I didn't even check out the book from the library.

The one time I decided to get the Cliff's notes it was for The Invisible Man. That's the H.G. Wells version. My dumbass gets the Ralph Ellison version. Suffice to say my book report was drastically different than everyone else.

One "discussion" I did like was for The Great Gatsby and The Portrait Of Dorian Gray. I actually dug the premise of those two.

Great Expectations- oh the horror! I HATE Dickens way of describing something that should be simple.

Dickens- as I was on my way to our very quaint local elementary school which is located in the lovely city of Who Cares that has the most lovely local floral and fauna in wicked shades of yellow and purple that contrast nicely with the yellow and white stucco building that are on the same street as the school that we were walking to with my two adorably short children that I adore more than anything because they are like little mirrors of my soul.

I totally love The Picture of Dorian Gray. I mean it's as gay as books come, but it was brilliant.

True. But it was kind of crazy with the picture and all that. Made me laugh at his misfortune.
