Body Rides
Neal has been carrying a gun in his car lately-just to be safe. And it looks like it's a good thing he has. When he spots a woman tied to a tree naked and a man ready to kill her, he has no choice but to shoot the attacker. As a reward, the woman gives Neal something unimaginable.
Neal's reward is a bracelet. A very special bracelet. I enables it's wearer to step inside other people, to see through their eyes, to feel whatever they feel. To take "body rides." But Neal has a big problem. The man he shot isn't dead. And he wants revenge. First he's going to finish what he started with the woman. Then he'd going after Neal....

I really liked this book. I would hate to say it was my favorite because I've liked all the others I've read so far, but this one is good. I have read mixed reviews about it though.

I love the premise of the book. Body rides, that would be awesome.

This one is definitely one of my top 10 Richard Laymon books (it's hard to say which order it'd go in...). Not many of his books go into the super natural, but this one obviously does (with no reasonable explanation of how or why it happens, I don't think).


My favorite scene is when the dude gets it on with the chirpy young chick and his girlfriend. Simultaneously.

There is just so much that goes on in the book. I mean reading minds would be awesome bt this takes it way beyond that.

The girlfriend was pretty cool and understanding. I like how it ending, I mean parts of it sucked but atleast it ended how it ended.
It's hard to say with out giving it away.

Yeah but you forget to mention that the girlfriend and the chripy chick and together and when the girlfriend takes a body ride Neal has control of her body, soHe can do the chirpy chick and his girlfriend (if she riding the chick) at the same time as a chick. Crazy.

He doesn't have a penis though

Yeah but he gets to feel what it's like for a chick. Which for some the pleasure is not a easy to come by as it is for guys, but dude when it does its so much better. At least that's what I've heard.

Uh anyway. I just think it would be cool to ride around in people and feel what they feel and think what they think but still be able to feel your own body at the same time.

But it bring up an interesting question, if Neal could still feel his body when he went into Myrta, he got shot and died, so he could feel what it was like to die? Weird.

Wait, you could feel your body while you were taking a body ride? I forget that part.

I'll definitely reread most of my Laymon books if I get them shipped out here.

Yeah remember when Neal went off and picked up Sue. They stayed at that hotel and she took a body ride and entered him while he did her. I'm pretty sure she said she could feel what was going on with her and him. At least her body still reacted even though she wasn't in it. BUt there was that one part when the Creeper was messing with her in the jeep but she may not have returned to see what was going on cause she was following Rasputin.

You are making me question myself now. BUt I am pretty sure that you could stil feel it, you just couldn't control it.

No, actually, after you said that part about him doing her while she was inside his head does ring a bell for me. I think you may be right.

He didn't mentiong any sort of agonizing pain though.

Yeah he doesn't, but the part where you find out that he's inside Myrta now is short. I mean basically you find out he kissed the braclet right before he died, went into Myrta and had been there until She took a ride and he was able to control her body. that's pretty much it, it wasn't detailed.

I imagine if he felt himself die he'd be in fevered panic for the rest of his life though.

Imagine being stuck inside someone named MYRTA for the rest of your life.

At least her name wasn't BERTHA.

Hm, alright. But if I say "hey, you look like a Bertha" would you take it as an insult or a compliment?

Uhh yeah, Bertha's not a name I would want to be stuck with. I mean Buffy's bad enough...Bertha, that's just painful.
