| Trailer One: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/iamlegend/trailer1/large.htmlTrailer Two: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/iamlegend/trailer2/large.htmlLooks awesome, like a remake of the Omega Man. I Am Legend is an upcoming 2007 post-apocalyptic science fiction horror film directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Will Smith. I Am Legend is based on Richard Matheson's 1954 novel I Am Legend. This is the third adaptation of the novel, following The Last Man on Earth (1964) and The Omega Man (1971). Smith plays Robert Neville, possibly the only survivor of a man-made virus in the world. He works to create a cure, but he is being stalked by nocturnal mutant survivors of the plague. Warner Bros. Pictures began developing I Am Legend in 1994, and various actors and directors were attached to the project, though it did not enter production due to budgetary concerns. I Am Legend entered production in 2006 in New York City, filming mainly on location in the city including a $5 million scene at the Brooklyn Bridge, the most expensive scene filmed in the city to date. For the film, Warner Bros. launched a tie-in comic and an online multiplayer game on Second Life as part of its marketing campaign. I Am Legend is scheduled to be released December 14, 2007. Synopsis A man-made virus wipes out the population of New York City in 2009, leaving virologist Robert Neville ( Will Smith) the last human survivor in the city and possibly the world. Neville lives alone for three years, attempting to contact and find other possible survivors. He is watched by mutant victims of the plague. Neville was the indirect cause of the fall of man: his government-funded research helped spread the virus, and he now works to redeem himself. Naturally immune, Neville realizes that two percent of the human race must also be immune. However, many of them were killed by the infected, who became cannibalistic. Neville finds himself outnumbered by the infected and running out of time.

| I read up on it, and Omega Man is the same movie, it was based on the same book, I AM LEGEND. But they didn't go by the book 100% This new movie can be called a remake of Omega Man, or if you want to argue about it, it's really just a remake of the book. Chuck Hestons name in Omega Man was the same as Will Smith in this movie, so it's close enough, I'm going to call it a remake of Omega Man. Which is a cheesy movie, but I dug it as a kid. | |

| I was a wee bit nervous about this movie, as they said it was going to go by the book real close, and the book ends badly, good enough for a book, but with a movie, it would be a downer, but I read a review that said the movie went for a Hollywood happy ending, which makes me happy, so I'm going to try to see it this weekend. | |

| In the book Spoiler: The dude is killing vampires all the time, in the book the ones who don't die become Vampires/zombie things. But there are some who are in between, a morph of both. They are human and vampire, but the dude can't tell the difference. He kills them all. Wipes out what he can, just killing them all. He is terrified of course at what the human race has become, scared for his own life, he sees his cause as just, and he kills them the best he can. Later, the half vampires send a girl to him, she claims she is human, but he figures it out eventually, and he sees that he is now the monster, he is the mad dog killer, the true beast. Whatever the Earth has become, it's now the natural order, the vampires and the half vampires are what is normal, and he is the last human, and he is the abnormal killer monster twisted creature. So he kills himself. Which is cool for a book, but in movie form, what a depressing ending. | |

| Man, I know it sucks, that humanity is all dead, and vampires now rule, and maybe I'm a conservative yeah, but with animals, I'm a fregin blue state liberal. They show that dog, and it all looks cool, then they show Will Smith and the dog like it got hurt by the zombie dogs. I don't dig that at all. Hope that dog makes it out o.k. (in trailer #2) | |

| Me and Sandy went to see this tonight.
SPOILERS
I was really happy with it. Wasn't too crazy about the ending, but it was what it was.
The first part of the movie with him driving around in that mustang, hunting deer, well that was just cool.
And I liked how they started out with him alone, then would show flashbacks of him before everyone died. It helped break up the movie.
If they would have shown all that first, then went to him alone, it might have been too much alone time, like on CASTAWAY.
As for the dog, I knew a sad death would come, but DAMN you just get attached to that dog, and when it goes zombie and he has to choke it, well, ya know whatever, they were trying to pull on your heart strings, and they pulled on mine, and I took it hard.
I had mild complaints, the lions looked fake as hell, and the deer were really fake in scenes, and the zombies were fake and CGI, they could have put some makeup on a dude and called it good, but they went the BattleStar Galactica route and put millions in computer effects to make some cartoon looking men.
The city scenes looked real, that part was awesome.
The ending was what I would say is Hollywood cliche. Lets kill off the hero for no other reason than it's expected. Make him the saviour figure.
I see no reason why he couldn't have taken off with his new nuclear family for Vermont and called it a day, rather than suicide himself with a gernade.
But the ending didn't make me mad, I was just a little let down by it. Didn't ruin the movie for me though, I loved it.
When those zombies booby trapped him, and he was hanging and it was getting dark, the sun was going down, that made me so worked up, dude is just hanging there, and the zombies are about to get him, that would suck.
I'm putting it in the list of favorite movies, and plan on getting it on DVD when it comes out.

| This movie stays with you, it was the first thing I thought of when I woke up this morning, and been thinking about it all day. We have started calling Sparky "Zombie Dog" and tell him we will just let him loose if he turns zombie, rather than choke him to death, ha ha. Man, I really felt for that dog at the movies, he was an awesome dog, he took out two zombie dogs and saved Will Smith. Actually it was a she, he call it Sam, but it was samantha. | |

| LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Will Smith is on track to achieve legendary status at the weekend box office. The actor returns to theaters on Friday with "I Am Legend," a sci-fi thriller in which he plays the last man left on Earth after a man-made virus has wiped out everyone else. Box office observers expect the Warner Bros. release to open above $40 million for the three-day weekend, easily taking the crown from "The Golden Compass," which topped the field last weekend with a disappointing $26 million. Update: it made 72 million | |

| Bumping this thread, as it's not in the portal dammit. But I must say, today all I could think of was that dog looking at the butterfly in the cornfield. I really got feelings for that dog over the course of the movie. Most movies, you see them, you cruise, it leaves your mind. This movie stuck with me, I think about it a lot. | |

| If you are up for Spoilers: SPOILER: The dog was cool as hell, it took out two zombie dogs that were trying to kill Will Smith. It fought like a trooper and went down like Old Yeller. Well, Smith takes it home, gives it a shot trying to cure it, then takes it in his arms and wraps his arms around it's neck, like a hug. He waits, and it's like a loving embrace. Then he comes up with a tuft of hair, and it's o'so rude, he knows it's bad, and then he checks it's eyes and they are gone, and then it turns zombie, and he chokes it to death. It was just rude, I still tear up for that poor dog, and Will Smith was devasated by it. It just sucked, he lost his one last friend. And yeah, maybe I love pets more than most, I'm in the liberal left on the subject, but it hurt the Whid to see that. I really felt for that dog. I tell ya though, dog went out like a damn hero, he saved Smith from those zombie dogs. | |

| I am a big dog person, even though I talk a game here like maybe I'm not. Not a freaky PETA person, but I really like dogs. For whatever reason, since I was a kid, can't stand seeing pets get smoked in movies. Pisses me off. Funny though, The Terminator can't shoot up a police station, but once one dog bites it people get bummed. -HECK! | |

| Well, let me say, yeah the dog bites it, but the dog went out like a damn hero, so it wasn't like it got run over. It was like a John Wayne ending for it. I felt wiped out and sad, and yeah, I admit it, I cried, and it has affected me the last few days, but at the same time, it was cool, the dog had a good death, it wasn't no chump, it was a real trooper. I still tear up thinking about it, and really it's just a movie, it aint even real, but it hit home on some level. Really liked that dog dammit. | |

-HECK! I tell ya, it shows a lot of innocent people die in the movie, and I was emotional about it, but when the dog bit it, I just lost it. Makes me shallow or something, I don't know, but it's like I set myself up as the dogs protector, it's like it's below baby stage, you got to take care of it, it's a true innocent. The people dying sucks, yeah, but they kinda have some clue as to what is going on, and what death is, the dog don't know ****. Can't justify it, cry for the dog, don't really care when they blow the bridge and kill 200 hundred pedestrians.

| Didn't they also kill like 6 billion humans in the movie? But, well, I can understand crying over the dog. Dogs are just so innocent. But one reason could be because it seems the dog is the guy's only companion. I may take Yoyo to see it if the dog dies a hero. She'll burst into tears, but she'll spend 20 minutes telling me how dogs are really loyal and selfless, and I'll agree for 20 minutes. Been through that discussion a few times before, you can tell. | |
