| I~ will be perfectly honest and admit that I am shocked pompey are where they are. I thought after all the trouble of last season and players leaving that it would a relegation dogfight again it's good that you have some loan players from clubs like man utd it's really a win win situation. Can I ask thought what is the financial situation now I know they are out of administration but is there money to spend or will it be loan deals for the forseeable future? | |

| Balram Chanrai isn't looking to invest in the club so Coterill has nothing to spend unless he sells players and even then most of what he makes will go to the remaining 20,000,000 or so debt. He did make a brilliant deal this season by making a player transfer of Marc Wilson to Stoke for Dave Kitson and Liam Lawrence - must be the deal of the season really - and he got real find in Joel Ward from the youth academy so it's not been too bad player wise this season.
Chanrai is looking to sell the club and he has, reportedly, about four of five parties interested but he's pledged not to sell to just anyone. He doesn't want to be remembered like Al Fahim and Al Faraj but wants to be remembered as the man who put Pompey back on its feet so he said he's going to make sure that whoever he sells to has money to invest and has Pompey's best interest at heart.
However, until such as time as a new owner arrives it will be loan signings and free transfered for the time being.
Coterill has done a magnificent job, particularly in the last few months. We have gotten 22 points out of a possible 26 with 8 clean sheets - Jamie Ashdown holds both the clubs post-war record and the Championship's all time record for hours without conceding a goal. So it's no wonder other teams would be looking at him.
Good thing is that he's said he wants to stay at Pompey. And he's not alone in this as loan signing from Wolves, Greg Halford, has said he would like to move here perminantly and his partnership with Ricardo Rocha has seen our defense become water tight so I'd like to see him come perminantly.
Our loan signings this season have been:
Greg Halford - Wolves Carl Dickinson - Stoke Ritchie De Leat - Man Utd Jonathon Hogg - Aston Villa David Coterill - Swansea Ibrahima Sonko - Stoke Liam Lawrence - Stoke (made perminant in January) | |
