Oscar Watch 2007

I went to see Babel this weekend. Boy that movie was a total waste of time. Well, not totally, the maybe 30 minutes that had the story of the mexican nanny was the best part. That part made me cry. Everything else was just not good. I don't understand the hype. I mean it's sad, but I didn't get into it. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it, but as it set in, I realized...... nope. really didn't like it.

Now the Departed was a GREAT movie. Little miss sunshine was AWESOME. Volver is good. Pan's Labirynth is good. The Queen was good. I have yet to see Blood Diamond and Last King of Scotland. But I've heard good things.

I heard that it was going to be a HUGE let down. Other than the fact that Brad is in it, I was told to not waste my time.

Babel was useless. I am a movie guy, I get meaning, depth and all that underlying crap in movies. If there was any sustance, any hidden meaning then it was over my head and/or under my butt.

Everybody who tells me about Blood Diamond has said that it was one of the best movies they've ever seen. I'm looking forward to watching it on cable Nah, I just rarely go to the cinemas, so I'll catch it on DVD.

Haven't seen Babel. Absolutely no interest in it.

I want to see Blood Diamond too. I've heard that it was great, and that Leo did a smashing job.
